Has anyone ever written a letter to an ex just to say thank you for the memories and such or anything else?

I'm still coping with the breakup and have written this type of letter to my ex, at first with the intention to send it, but thankfully came to my senses and just let it be and keep it for myself at least till I'm certain I'm not doing this out of an impulse to contact him.

honestly, I still have pull myself back from actually sending it and have been successful.

But has anyone ever actually sent one and what happened?

It's cathartic to write it, not always a good idea to send it.

I like that you wrote it and put it aside for the time being.

I've sent letters in the past, and I've regretted it.

agreed. I wrote letters to my ex, and kept them in draft, thanks to advice on here.

Now that i go back and read them from nearly 2 years ago, i'm glad i didn't send them. Your perspective changes over time and you realize that it was better just to keep those thoughts to yourself.

This...for about a month after the breakup, I wrote several long letters to my ex...at the time I thought they were my only hope of getting her back...but looking back now, there was no hope of getting her back...and there was no need for those letters...she always knew how I felt...and she really didn't need to be reminded of it...
