monkey2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Just wondering. Would breaking up with someone while it's Chinese New Year considered a 'bad' thing? (assuming both of you are Asian and hence celebrate it)
AZNNTYCE Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 ummm well, i dont think chinese new years is for a few days away. but anyways, can i ask y u want to break up the relationship?
dyermaker Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Most people, when being broken up with on any day, regardless of ethnicity, consider it a "bad" thing.
monkey2004 Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 dyermaker: guess you got a point there. AZNNTYCE: need to break up for various reasons. And only time I can see her is during Chinese New Year. Such a dilema.
greentea Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 I dont think its a "bad thing" just because its chinese new year. But if you really believe in tradition (considering both of you are chinese), then u might want to wait until after the chinese new year. In any case, breaking up (regardless of the season/time of the year) is such a sad experience.
will_woman Posted January 20, 2004 Posted January 20, 2004 I would suggest that you break the news after CNY. By the way, I am a chinese....so it's better to it after CNY
Glors1116 Posted January 31, 2004 Posted January 31, 2004 I got dumped Chinese new years eve. And we were engaged. And I am Chinese but I tried to think of it this way... there's never a good time to break up. It's always bad no matter what. But I looked at it this way... I had a great relationship and it occurred in the year of the sheep. I will always consider that a great year despite the outcome. Last year kicked off with a national tragedy of a space shuttle crash, but the year still turned out fine. Despite how horrible I feel and how unhappy I was at the Chinese New Year party I attended anyway... I don't really know what my point is, except that break-ups really suck.
