Rorschach Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 I'm here to learn more about dating so that when I finally lose this damn weight I can go meet somebody nice and understand the signs. I don't think anybody meets people on LS.... too personal If I did meet anybody on here I can almost guarantee I'd stop posting here otherwise there'd be no realm of mystery.
Eeyore79 Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 I try to help people solve their problems, and occasionally post my own. I guess advising other people is sort of cathartic - firstly it makes me feel that I'm not the only one with problems and mine aren't so bad, and secondly it makes me value my negative experiences because they help me to help someone else. I also glean a lot of useful information regarding how people's minds work and how they view dating etc.

Fat chance meeting someone on here.... Im here to try to solve problems...that usually doesnt happen, people do what they want , not what they need to do. Im also here to count how many people post not to have their problem solved, but just for people to tell them theyre right. Wait, wha?

RobM Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 just here killing time while i'm at work waiting for someone else to finish something
Green Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I'm here because I find it entertaining. I try to help people with their problems. I enjoy giving advice to men who have trouble with women.
CaliGuy Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I went from broken to repaired to strong and now someone who sticks around LS to offer advice and help others fix their lives and move on. As for relationships, that's not going anywhere for me and to be honest it doesn't bother me anymore. I'm happy I'm alive and that's all that matters.
DustySaltus Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Have to agree with Cali. I was a mess as well and through some brutally honest advice I have become a better person. Time to pay it forward.
GorillaTheater Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I'm happy to give advice if I think I have something to offer, and enjoy the bantering now and then, but I think I'm here mainly to learn.
Stung Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I'm happy to give advice if I think I have something to offer, and enjoy the bantering now and then, but I think I'm here mainly to learn. Ditto. I chime in with advice sometimes as I too have built myself back up from rock bottom and sometimes I think my perspective is useful, but the big draw is that I find it fascinating peeking into alternate psychologies. I think LS has helped me view my own emotional reactions more objectively, that way--and some of these threads can also help to remind me how lucky I am in my husband. I am definitely not here looking to meet anyone. I know it's happened a few times on these boards, but so far it's been pretty rare and mostly unsuccessful as far as I know. I am hopeful for LS's current favorite transatlantic duo, however.
Pyro Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I am here to give advice, to learn from other peoples experiences and opinions, and because it can be fun. As far as meeting someone from here, its very possible. cough cough look at my avatar cough:love:
Author allanworks Posted April 20, 2010 Author Posted April 20, 2010 ending with alpha male 65% here to help 30% here to learn 5% dont know why there here
Lizzie60 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 I'm here to help... I don't have any problems.. so I don't really need advices.. but I have a lot of experience in many aspects of life.. so I think I can help... I also think I'm here to help people see how it really is in their marriage or in their relationship...
sagetalk Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Anyone who's here to help, is also here to learn. When you teach others, you can't help but learn as well. As for meeting someone here, I would say that is unlikely due to the high level of honesty people give out around here .
BlueeyedJonesy Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I'm here to learn...and now it has become a little addicting..It's like reality TV, Sometimes it makes me feel like my life is awesome when I read some people's posts...When I came here I was a mess. and this site helps.
BlueHarvest Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I attend this site in short durations, usually for one month stints at a time. And then try to avoid the site for as long as possible. During that one month stint, I will lend whatever advice I have and ask questions if I need to. Usually, coming back to the site is brought on by the onset of personal emotional problems that I need advice with, I will not deny that. However; some of you might be wondering why I avoid the site when possible. Simple put, the site is corrupting and a crutch. I don't mean that in a bad way, but from my personal experience when first joining the site I found that I would talk more about my supposed actions then ever actually do anything. I would use the site as a crutch for my emotional woes, asking people for advice, and then when that advice succeeded/failed I would come scrambling back here for more advice on what to do. Do I still do that? Rarely, but yes. The site as a crutch is not emotionally good. Part of life isn't asking others how to get past a situation. Part of life is feeling that emotion for yourself, learning how to evolve and expand your emotions to react accordingly to situations without the need to ask someone for advice. In essence, acting independently. People naturally go through 3 phases of emotional (in)stability. Dependancy-->Independancy--->Co-Dependancy. It's a rough patch, and whenever I falter I know that coming here will help restabalize my co-dependancy. However too much time on the forums, turns it from being co-dependant into just plain dependant. It's at that time that I must become independant in order to be a better person. Long winded, and kind of circular, but I think I made my point.
aerogurl87 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I like giving advice and seeing other people's views on life. I came here looking for other people who were in LDRs when I was in one with my ex, but now I just mainly come here because I like the people on here.
xpaperxcutx Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 The first time I came here, it had been for advice. Afterwards, I came on here often just to read other's problems and how I can learn from their experience. Sometimes I chime in with my thoughts. It's alway nice to read other's point of views.
