OK, I've been reading this forum for a while and I see one major trend.

So, really? If I continue doing what I'm doing, that is: pursuing my career as a math research professor, run marathons/do triathlons, continue developing my Aikido (progressing in skills and ranks), keep my passion for gourmet cooking and stay social - I should be fine in you know what terms? Really?

I'm nearly 30 so, according to some people here, I haven't reached the dating peak for men yet. I'm just confused... dating defies any logic...

On another note... Yesterday I was talked into participating in something that's called 'the bar crawl' - a bunch of college students friends of mine from the Aikido club talked me into that. So we went to various college bars around campus. The positive side of it was: all rails and taps were $1.50... The negative side - I've never felt so out of place! Either I'm getting old/grumpy or something but I was just so annoyed by all these college kids. Ok, I admit some were 'aesthetically pleasing' but I now understand better all these threads here posted by people who're in college, complaining about girls pursuing douschebags and losers...

Using words like 'aesthetically pleasing' about hot women means you're loosing your edge...

Drop the aikido. Switch over to jiujitsu, judo and/or sambo and reclaim your man card!! That's a start.

Yes, absolutely. Plenty of women to be met at university events, marathon/triathlon training clubs, cooking classes, and social events with your friends.

Why you would go to a college pub crawl is a mystery. Are you looking for college girls to date?

By cotinuing doing what you're doing, you will meet people who share similar interests which makes you that much more connected to a woman you meet.

Marathons are great but require alot of training for maintenance since you have to work up to running atleast 3 and a half hours.

Run 5 & 10Ks.

Coming from a marathon background, you will find the speed training a lot more intense than your used to, but the energy expenditure is a peace of cake ;). Shorter distance races are cheaper and more available, freeing up money for dates. Also, you'll find alot more women running those distances.

Nix the college bar scene for a while. Go try out a good country & western bar or heck, biker bar - especially during bike week. Good times!

Yep, you should be fine... you have a decent career, you're fit and healthy, you have some interests and hobbies, plus (I assume) you have no kids or ex-wives? You're pretty much what every woman is looking for!

All you need to do is socialise with adults a bit more, instead of college kids :)

C'mon guys! The bar crawl thing was a one-time thing. By no means am I looking for something in college bars. I don't even know why I did it yesterday.

As far as short distance running is concerned - I run 5K & 10K as well. Yup! They're a lot of fun.

I don't know - recently it just feels like everybody is getting engaged/married and I'm stuck in grad school (only 3 more weeks!). :)
