I agree with what USMCHokie said about how it could be viewed as "cool" to be dating Asian girls in college. At the uni where I study, there is a healthy population of both Asian girls and white girls. In my opinion, generally, I find the white girls are more attractive.

 

I find that most of the Asian girls that date white guys think they're really "cool", most noticeably because it's usually one Asian girl with no Asian friends but a whole bunch of white friends. I would even go as far to say that they are sort of disowning their own identity. I hear a lot of them say something along the lines of "I'm not really Asian...", which is based on stereotypes. Or something like "that Asian guy is the least Asian person you'll ever know", which sort of implies that some people think there is a few negative stereotypes associated with being Asian. Of course, I find this all absurd.

 

However, most of my Asian girlfriends prefer Asians themselves. All of my white friends prefer white girls.

To the original OP, i think your friend might have a point. seriously think about it. out of all the intermixed couple, doesnt that combination seem most prevalent?

 

I mean i could be wrong but damn i see white guys with asian women like it's going out of style.

 

But whatever it is to them, more power to them. They are two people hooking up, who cares what they are, your friend is probably just jealous and any man can have any woman if he's in shape and got money.

I actually meant that it's cool for Asian girls to date white guys in college...not necessarily the other way around...I often saw a large group of Asian girls and the one girl who had a white boyfriend...the token white guy in the group (there's ALWAYS ONE... :laugh::lmao:)...and this Asian girl carries him around like a trophy in front of her other Asian friends...like she was better than them because she could "bag a white guy"...and they were both usually rather unfortunate looking...

I AM that Asian girl with all white friends. I can only speak for myself, but I don't think this implies "disowning" their identity.

 

I'm a fourth generation Japanese-American, born and raised in CA. I can relate to the whole "I'm not really Asian" statement, and I'd say 99% of my friends are Caucasian, but this is only because I grew up in a predominantly white neighborhood/school -- not because of any self-hatred. I work in an industry with few minorities.

 

But I will say in college when I was wearing "alternative" clothing from thrift stores and studded belts, I got weird looks from the other "pretty and proper" Asian girls. I looked far from the stereotype.

 

HOWEVER, when I worked at a bookstore, one of my guy coworkers asked me, "So...is it true Asian women don't have hair down there?" Seriously, who comes up with these things??

Yeah, sorry that's what I was meant to say. That it could be viewed by Asian girl that it's cool to date a white guy.

 

I see similar sort of groups like that as well! That's the impression they give off, they they are better than others because they could bag a white guy. I find that the Asian girl is never really that pretty or hot as well.
