I am going through a divorce and right now my wife and I are negotiating on our assets. We have been married for 15 years. I live in NJ and one of the things that is a hold up that the court views is a spouse's contribution to the career or education level of the other. Now my wife did support me as I went to college and earned my degree; however, I have been teaching full time for 10 years, during which my salary has allowed significant contributions to our investments as well as allowing her to put more into her deferred compensation plan. I feel as though that her contribution should no longer be weighted heavily. Anyone have any ideas?
