It's an expression with quite some age... sung again and again from writers as fluent as Shakespeare to a modern LS poster perusing the world wide web. Why do we do it to ourselves?

I just facebook stalked. Guilty as charged.

Sigh.

My question is: really, why do we do it?

Having someone in your life serves more than basic biological needs: human interaction, mutalism, sex, etc. Having someone to think about, plan for, want, desire feeds you psychologically. Even break-ups are amusing in a way... stimulating something inside you.

Isn't even registering on a forum like this one, just doing the same thing?

Attention, attention, attention.

Im assuming an ex?

If so, I think it's because ex's are a part of ourselves. They represent part of us, a time in our lives, something we enjoyed so much.

If exes were unchanging beings and made us as happy today as they made us when we were together with them and the relationship was at its best, who wouldn't want to go back to that time?

I've been doing this a bit lately this week myself. I have to keep reminding myself that the girl and the time we were together and it was great can't be reproduced. She's different, I'm probably different even if I don't realize it.

Psychologically we train ourselves only to remember good things and to forget or try not to remember unhappy times.

I facebook stalk everyone. It bothers me when I thought some one was my fb friend and then I see their profile and I'm not their friend. Then I wonder... was that person ever my fb friend... did they unfriend me... I long to know those answers
