the idea here is i want to not smoke when i am stressed. but of course, cigarettes are a simple release because they take 5 minutes and they have "relax time". so instead of smoking or journaling, what can i do?

hmmm...stretching; breathing strangely and deeply, flirting, screaming, and kev's idea are all great ones.

 

 

my friends who gave up smoking and drinking had to totally hyper-engage their other senses to make up for the loss - we had suckers, candies, gum, rave pacifers everywhere here for awhile - it's so relaxing to do things with one's mouth. when i was younger i had a friend who would kiss platonic buddies during breaks to keep the cravings distracted; but that's not very practical outside of junior high.

If you have either a boyfriend or girlfriend, bang them like they have never been banged. I think that would be a great stress reliever. Don't you? ;)

I scoured the internet for oddball and strange joke sites and just weird websites and would go there for a few minutes. If I wasn't near a computer I would drink water, chew gum and sometimes scream into a pillow!

That was the idea I had too!

 

Funny thing...right now I am interested in this guy who is thinking of quitting smoking. Maybe I should join him...heh heh... :bunny:
