I've been broke up going on 6 weeks with very minimal contact. He called and wants to take me out for my birthday and he has bought be a gift. I had plans on my birthday so he suggested the day after. I told him yes but not sure if its the right decision. He actually suggested my favorite place.

I'm not really looking at this as a second chance or do I think he is trying to weasle back in. I am not going to do a FWB. Do you think he is just trying to be nice and feeling guilty for being such a &ss when he broke up over the phone?

Being 6 weeks I'm not sure either if I want him back. He appears to be one of these men who when everything is blissful purposely does something to end it. It's just too hard for me. I do care for him and we have very intellectual and stimulating conversations. He is leaving the country for the summer so in one way I'm relived we're broke up for if we were not I would have been struggling...we're both in our 40's.

Any advice?

Oh boy. Considering the fact that he's leaving the country soon, combined with the things you described in your post...it doesn't sound altogther great. I'm not sure on the details, but it reads as if he's quite the drama queen.

I wish I could be more definitive, but all I can really tell you is I'd tread carefully with this one.

OP, it's weird how both parties want the other to miss them.

Anyways, is it just gonna be the two of you hanging out? Sounds like he might be trying to get his foot in the door again. FWB? did he mention this? WTF?
