now_what Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I am just so nervous and tense I can hardly stand it. My ex is dragging me into court next week to face contempt charges. He claims that I have failed to make mortgage payments, yet the accounts are up to date and the credit bureau shows zero delinquency. I tried to persuade him to drop the charges, but he refuses to do so, saying he will just let his attorney and the court take care of it. I hate that I have to spend money that I really don't have for no good reason, especially for something he was having some sort of problem with yet couldn't bother to mention to me. Why would someone's first course of action be to go to court. It just blows my mind. From how he is acting, it's hard to believe that I spent over 30 years of my life with this man. It's like I don't even know him. I am going back to school and start classes tomorrow, but all I can think about is going to court. Also, the one year anniversary of our dissolution is tomorrow, which is stirring up some emotions. How can I get myself settled down?
Perhaps Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I'm sorry, I don't know much about law but... can't you use that in your defence?.. that he never really bothered to alert you of it before taking t up with the courts. And correct me if I'm wrong but can't you also make him cover your legal expenses if he's dragging you to court while you tried to mediate the matter?
Author now_what Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Yes, my attorney will be bringing it up that he never mentioned that there was a problem - in his mind only I guess. Also, my attorney is going to try to get my ex to pay my attorney fees if I am found not to be in contempt, he says there really is no case or grounds for the charges.
Author now_what Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Going to have a glass of wine and head for bed - early for me - and see if that helps any.
Perhaps Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I hope you're not drinking the wine for the wrong reasons
Author now_what Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Was going to drink the wine just to relax a bit and I saw on a tv health channel at the urgent medical that women should drink 5 oz. of red wine every day. I was sitting there waiting to have a dog bite looked at, so had nothing better to do than stare at the tv. But for some reason, I forgot about the wine and just went to bed, I was exhausted. Have not heard from my attorney yet, but trying not to worry about going to court.
