janie423 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 where is the line drawn between mirroring contact and over-zealous pursuit? would like some clarification please . . . been out of the dating scene a long time.
JohnM Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I imagine mirrored contact you mean as reciprocal communication and involvement and over zealous pursuit as one of the people being the chaser of the other party? If so, mirrored would be replying to the initiator one day and then being the person to initiate contact the next day. Same with arranging to see one another. Over Zealous? Being the one doing all the legwork and perhaps pushing too hard.
Odyssey Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 mirrored contact is like 50/50 over zealous is one sided e.g. 90%/10% never go too extreme... all good things in moderation right?
Author janie423 Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 thanks for replying . . . are you saying that the old standard of the man doing all the contact and planning in the early stages of dating are gone? So for example if a man calls me on Monday, I should call him on Wednesday? How long should the two be dating before this occurs? this is what happens when you're out of circ for a long time - clueless.
threebyfate Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 janie, it depends on the personality and age of the men who you're interested in. If you're in your twenties and are targeting twenty-something men, from what I gather on LS, many won't do the traditional male thing. If you're my age which is 35, or even older, the more assertive men haven't changed their dating tactics, which means they go after what they want.

I would feel really pushy calling a guy in the early stages of dating. "Older" guys seem to like to do the initiating. Interesting - and I appreciate the response . . .
