tami-chan Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 bad girls...at least, that's what some psychologist said. Are these women living their "badness" vicariously through their men? or are they "bad" behind doors?
St. Nick Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 What's your definition of "bad"? Gimme some character traits of a "bad girl"?
Woggle Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 They want a taste of the wild side but watch how quick the innocent victim act comes out when things get a bit too thick.
Woggle Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Also many of these women will chew up a nice guy and spit him out. They will cheat on him in a heartbeat with a bad boy so in reality they are no better than the bad boys they date.
Author tami-chan Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 To me a "bad girl" would be someone who hangs out in bars/clubs, gets drunk and loud in public, promiscuous, they wear revealing clothes..hmm..what else? is that enough stereotyping for you?

Ugh, Woggle, we know what you think about these women, but this is not about how these women would treat "nice" guys, the question is do YOU think these "nice girls" who choose to be with "bad boys" are really closet "bad girls"?

Yes. Like attracts like and deep down they go for men who are just like they are.
dave22 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 "closet bad girl"? sounds about right. I find that people often date someone who has characteristics they wish they had more of themselves. So a girl dating a bad guy is probably a girl secretly wishing she were bad herself.
Author tami-chan Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 What about those women who fall for bad boys hoping to change them? How can they be "closet bad girls" if its the very thing they want to change in their partner?
Woggle Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 What about those women who fall for bad boys hoping to change them? They want to tame the beast but they get bored when they do. It is like a prize that they want nothing to do with after they win it.
dave22 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 What about those women who fall for bad boys hoping to change them? How can they be "closet bad girls" if its the very thing they want to change in their partner? I would say they are delusional if they even think they would ever have a chance, lol. But you actually make a good point that I didn't think of. I guess girls wanting to change a bad boy couldn't really be considered "closet bad girls"
JustJoe Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 MS Chan, This is another "form", over "substance ", thread. Women don't prefer REAL BAD Men. they like men who LOOK bad. Example: Marlon Brando LOOKED bad, in his movies strong, handsome chiselled features, very emotional.........Audie Murphy WAS a bad MF!! Killed over 350 German and Italian soldiers......short, medium build, un-impressive looking. It's all about appearance. So most women who are attracted to this type of "bad boy", are attracted to the " Aura", of being " outside the box". but would run away from any real bad behavior.
sagetalk Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Sandra Bullock comes to my mind reading this post. I was so disappointed when she chose that creep as her husband. She seemed like an amazing women. I don't know if it was just her acting dumb or she secretly wanted to be bad like him. Very sad. I think many women like the rush that these types of guys provide and are willing to feel the sorrow these guys bring with them just to feel all those emotions. Listen to Leona Lewis songs if you want to know what I mean. It's like they feel alive from all the emotions these loser guys make them feel. The hurt is somehow worth it, because they are addicted to emotions, even if they have no lasting value.
ADF Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 I don't think the explantion is that complicated. The fact is, the "bad boy" persona--swaggering, macho, cocky, etc--is a powerful cultural image of manliness in our society. It is not the only image, but it is a pretty dominant one. That is why so many men try to emulate it. And it is also many women are drawn to men who seem to embody that standard. That is what they think "real men" are supposed to be like.
Lizzie60 Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 This is interesting... it's not that clear though. My thoughts: I think that women are attracted to the 'boldness' of these guys... it is more 'lust' IMO at first than love.. Lust is extremely powerful, intense, pleasurable... and with those bad boys, this is what the woman gets... and it can last for quite a while. But, in the long run... she will get hurt... because, most likely, these men never change.. they keep that 'image' for a long time... The only thing.. when they get older.. if they keep that 'image' they look ridiculous..

I think I understand what you mean, in that, MOST women do not prefer killers, thieves, etc. (although, considering the number of marriage proposals Scott Peterson is getting..). Having said that, isn't Brando a real "bad boy" though? Was he not a womanizer ( and apparently, a "manizer") and a drunk? Anyway, the "bag boy" in this thread and context is a man who is promiscuous, who cheats, who treats women like objects, hangs out in bars ( even when he has a family or a gf), hangs more with his friends (even when he has a family or a gf)....etc.etc

Real bad boys scare most women away.
Johnny M Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 They want a taste of the wild side but watch how quick the innocent victim act comes out when things get a bit too thick. That's a really good way of putting it. They want to have their cake and eat it too.
Woggle Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 That's a really good way of putting it. They want to have their cake and eat it too. Right now from what I hear my ex is blaming everything on her boyfriend and is going to use that in court as if she was some innocent girl led astray. The sad thing is that it might work. These types want to live the wild life but do not want to deal with real consequences.

Unfortunately in this world... the extremely hot girls do that! DOH!
JustJoe Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Tami, all of the characteristics you've described as being those of "bad boys", are also the characteristics of of a "redneck". The only difference is age and attractiveness. :D
sagetalk Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Unfortunately in this world... the extremely hot girls do that! DOH! Don't rule out the sweater and ankle dress girls. That kind of clothing can hide a heck of alot of hotness . But for the most part I agree, what a rip off.

Not that it matters, just saying...! Anyway, Redneck, huh? I don't think I know any "redneck", BUT are you saying then that ALL rednecks are bad boys or are you protesting that the description or "characteristics" I mentioned could not be that of a bad boy because they are characteristics of a "redneck"?
Author tami-chan Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Unfortunately in this world... the extremely hot girls do that! DOH! Interesting. You find drunk, loud, cheap and scantily clad women hot? Hmmm...and why not? they need lovin' too, right? lol!
