Just wondering whether you guys can share any Double Dating and Third Wheel Experiences?

I have never tried double dating but my friends have always said that if we're both with someone at the same time then we should give it a go. My first thought that it will be fun! So, what are you experiences with double dating?

Also, I haven't really been the third wheel for a couple before because I always remove myself from a situation like that. But, have any of you guys had experiences with this? What happened and what was it like?

Third (or fifth or seventh or ::insert odd number here) wheel = story of my life. :o

It's really not bad at all, and about 95% of the time that's how it is when I go out. I'm usually pretty good friends with both people, so I'm just out having a good time. And I feel like my coupled friends have gotten used to me hanging around as third wheel, so it's not really weird for them. At least I hope it isn't...but they don't go all coupley on me, and it feels more like 3 individuals hanging out...so I appreciate that from them...

That's awesome! How they don't amke it uncomfortable and that you do have a good time. Sometimes, it would be a bit awkward if they are really affectionate.

During one of my holidays, when I was with my ex-girlfriend, one of my friends kept tagging along with us. It was a holiday with mostly her friends, so it was nice to have a good friend with me. I didn't mind. It was actually quite fun.

Incidentally, this same friend of mine was driving a couple home from a party. Whilst he was driving, they started kissing, which made it really awkward for him.

With double dating, the closest I came to that was when I met up with one of my friends and his girlfriend with my ex-girlfriend (this was before we got together). I just ended up talking to my friend and we did our own thing and left the girls talking to each other ;)

May be it's like in this book "Norwegian Wood" by Haruki Murakami - they feel more comfortable when you're around? :)

I don't feel awkward being a third wheel - unless people who invited me do feel awkward. Then - yes, it's wierd.

And Double dating - hate it. I just never seem to meet a couple who would share common interest or anything. So it's usually really really strange experience for me. And hard.

Last time I had kinda double date it was not so bad, but I wouldn't call it really a date. Just friends were going to get together and only four managed it - two guys, two girls, that was fine.

I agree. If the couple feels awkward, I feel awkward as well. I haven't been invited to somewhere by a couple before. Pretty sure they preferred to be with each other without me:p

Oh, I love meeting up with just another guy friend and two girl friends. It's heaps fun and it's not bad.

As for dating, I am a pretty openly affectionate guy. I just hope that doesn't make make it awkward for the other couple :lmao:

By the way, one of my friend recently got into a relationship!:):) Looks like I have to get going!

What's that book about?

Well, in the book the main hero Todu (male) had a friend at high school. His friend (Kizuki) had a girlfriend. And they liked to hang out, all three of them together. Some years later Todu met this girlfriend of Kizuki and they started talking. He asked her 'Was it ok that I was around all the time, may be you preferred to be with each other without me" :p But she answered something like "No, it was even better, we both felt more comfortable with you around, because Kizuki was very fond of you and with you he always showed his best side, and I liked this side of him very much and so - I liked it when you were with us"

Later this situation repeated with Todu and his university friend. After that Todu decided he's done hanging out with couples::laugh:

But the book is actually about something else :D That's just a subplot:)
