Hi,

I am a 24 year-old single male with a receding hairline and I am writing to seek female opinions on what I should do about it given that I have had brain surgery as a child and therefore have a scar all the way down the back of my head. Should I leave it to recede naturally, shave it off now thus exposing my surgical scar or cover it with a wig when the time comes? Do these large scars put females off?

I have had all sorts of rude comments made behind my back following my second surgery, but just ignored them back then as I knew it was only temporary. Just in case you're curious, I uploaded a profile pic of myself. Feel free to comment on what sort of style you think would suit me! I'm no fashion or style expert...haha.

Thanks,

You dont need to do anything u r just looking fine .Dont worry.

First and foremost- NEVER WEAR A WIG. Noooo way!

Secondly, shave it off! The scar will look kickass, and will harden your image. My brother had the same issue, receding hairline AND a scar on the back of his head- I insisted he shaved it off. It's a much better look for him... You've got a nice smile- but a nice smile looks much better on a bad guy than it looks on a nice guy. ;)

Shave it off and strut with confidence.

huh? you like to be treated like crap better than being treated well?

As for the OP...Shave it off. I did it 15 years ago (when I was starting to lose it) and it was the best thing I ever did for my confidence and dating life. Women LOVE bald heads and random women will ask to touch it all the time.

Hi, thanks for your feedback. Not sure it's that clear in the picture, but I also have hair thinning on top and I need to always check for patches and I try to comb over them now whilst I can:-) Don't know how long that solution will last...haha. Therefore, it's good to know that you think with my face shape I could pull a shaved look off as I really wasn't sure:cool:

However, I like being a nice guy and treating people well and would never want to change that, despite whether I looked like a tough guy or not.

I'm not turned off by balding men or receding hairlines. I think you can keep it the way it is or shave it. I am also not turned off by scars. I think they add to a person's life story.

I'm not a fan of bald heads or receding hairlines at this point in my life. But I find myself agreeing with most of the posters here--shave it. The scar will look badass, and while there are women--like me--who prefer hair on a man's head, there are women who don't care or have a preference for bald heads.

I don't think your hair is an issue at all at this point! You look pretty cute actually! I am a chick so my knowledge of these things is limited to just about nothing, but what about rogain or something to halt the hair loss for a while then shave it when half the guys you know are too?

You don't seem too comfortable with shaving your head, but I think you could pull it off! So maybe wait a little bit then do it....but be careful with the comb over... that is dangerous territory! haha

I think most women don't really care about a guys hair half as much as men do, it's more about their confidence. So whatever you decide to do just be happy about it and strut your stuff.

It's a matter of taste. Some girls just find a guy with a full head of hair attractive only. But there are girls like me who could care less.

The guy I just dated this year was bald as a billiard. He shaved it smooth and was extremely sexy and confident. That attracted me to him to begin with.

Use what you have and sell it. A lot women are attracted to a man who has confidence and self respect written all over them. Don't let a receding hairline stand in the way of talking to a pretty woman you would like to date. You don't know what she is attracted to until you start talking to her.

As mentioned above, I wouldn't bother wearing hair plugs, wigs, toupees, etc. You can try it, if you must, but if you don't look better then your natural self...drop it.

hi kassy, thanks for your feedback. it's good to hear you feel i could pull off a shaved sort of look as sooner or later i probably will have to. i think i will just get it cut to a #1 or #2 all over in the future. i've read what others think and it seems my large scar can actually be appealing which i never thought it could given my past experiences where people called me an ugly duckling following my second surgery. clearly, they were very shallow and i'm delighted to hear from people that are the total opposite.:)

I think your hairline is fine for now (assuming you don't have the receding bald spot at your crown). But if you're uncomfortable with it, I'd cut it very short. Not shaven, but like about 1/4".

No, no. That's not what I was trying to say. I need to be treated well. Period. What I was saying is that he can pull off the best of both worlds- a bad ass haircut, with a nice guy personality.

Perfect combo.

Hi Star Gazer, unfortunately, a couple of bald patches have appeared on the top of my head which I can still cover with my other hair, but not sure this is the right approach. ;)

Do whatever makes you comfortable.

I think you have NOTHING to worry about! It looks to me like you still have plenty of hair and don't need to do anything about if for a while longer.

...

you're cute and your hair is a non-issue. Have you considered some black rimmed glasses? That could add to your look ..just saying.

I agree that you have nothing to worry about. Your hair is such that the receding isn't very obvious - it works. Not everyone can pull off "bald." It depends on the shape of your head. I don't think the scar is anything to worry about.

Thanks for your feedback:)

I have no idea about style or fashion sense, so it's probably no suprise you think my glasses don't suit me...haha.

Oh, that's nothing.

You'll look great if/when you cut it reaaaaally short, but you look perfectly fine now. :)

your glasses are fine, I just though if you wanted to change something leave your hair and try some new specks.. couldn't hurt right? Take a girl shopping with you - my boyfriend needs women to pick out everything for him or he ends up in ribbed v-neck t-shirts (which his chest hair will spew over) and jeans that are 5 sizes to big. It's really scary.

You are cute :)

Your hair wouldn't bother me.

Although the glasses are okay, IMO, you're hiding one of your best features. You show your humour in your eyes.

I like glasses. The right kind. They definitely can be sexy in a way.

Listen.

If you have to comb-over ANYTHING. Shave it off.

The time has come.

and keep the glasses, or upgrade to a more stylish pair.

I think you'd look great bald. Not everyone can pull it off, but imagining it on you, in conjunction with the scar, if I saw you in public my first thought would probably be Marine.

I think you should do two things:

1. Upgrade the eyeglasses to a pair that are more stylish and fit your head better. Try the rectangle frame (As opposeds to your current oval) and make sure the the ends of the frame stick out about 1/2" from your face. As far as the style, Oga makes really cool ones: http://www.morel-france.com/oga/

2. Hair. I think your face shape would look good if cut really short. But not bald. Do the tapered style (Where it's shorter on the sides -- maybe 1/4 in) and gets slightly longer toward the top (1/2 in) ..like the Beckham look: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_e6nxwCbEYqY/RvlkBjdLipI/AAAAAAAAIR8/rGpUSfHBwZ0/s320/david-beckham-mad-dash.jpg

Good luck
