I wanted to get some nice lingerie for my girl, so I checked out Vicki's Secret. However, that stuff is really expensive. 35.00 for a teddy?

Anyone know of a more economical place to buy really nice intimates?

The fabric store; learn to sew. Altho, $35 for a teddy is pretty cheap considering you don't have the need for or the license for wholesale fabric. Plus the pattern, tho you won't churning them out in mass quantity.

I get a VS catalog at least once a week (the curse for having ordered even one item) and I don't remember any $35 teddies. Maybe a camisole, but not an actual teddy.

Looking through it now, not finding a teddy at that price. Are you sure you know what one is? I'm not trying to be a smarta$$, it's just that it can be a bit confusing when you don't actually wear them. ;)

Fredrick's of Hollywood is a bit less expensive than VS.

Toy shops generally have cheap, all in one -one size fits all outfits.

I still say learn to sew. But I think everyone should know how. Like being able to drive stick or make spaghetti.

If you think 35 bucks is expensive... there aren't too many alternatives.

Vic Secret IS the alternative to a name brand. It's a private label mall brand made in China.

I used to sell $350 bras and matching panties for $100- because they were the real deal. Vic Secret is cheap in comparison, if you want something cheaper than that, try Wallmart (being serious).

35.00 for something that costs 3.00 to make. Wow.. I am in the wrong business. LOL!

Actually, it would cost YOU about $35 to make one due to the reasons I gave you about no access to wholesale fabric and the purchase of a pattern and notions. Satin is about $7 a yard at best, chiffon, silk, brocade, are all a bit more, you'd need at least a yard to 2 yards. Thread, any shaping/boning, hooks and eyes is going to get you at almost $30 before you even buy the pattern at as much as $10 to $20. Then there is the time put into making it.

See why $35 is not really expensive for a teddy?

I'm shocked that you think $35 is expensive for women's intimates. THAT IS DIRT CHEAP.

If you want to find something for less, you might be able to find somethinat Wal-Mart or Frederick's....but it will be even lower quality than VS (which IMO is pretty low).

Guess its Hanes her way colors then..

And just to clarify- the name brand lingerie I used to sell was on the lower end of high end!:)

A lot of people think Vic Secret is expensive, but Jaysus- it's bottom of the barrel in the lingerie fashion scene.

I don't shop at Walmart so I can't comment on their selection, but I've seen some cute cheap things at Target. Kohl's has some too, I have a few cute bras that I grabbed on sale there. I'm sure you could find a teddy or something similar for around $20-ish at Target.

IMo it is better to get a good quality item that you can afford than to choose something at a price you can afford which is poorer quality.

In other words, pick quality lingerie or choose a different gift item.

I am not trying to be critical, but many years of buying gifts for my GF(s) and then wife taught me that if you want long lasting appreciation, then choosing a cheaper alternative is not the way to go.

Getting "nice lingerie" comes at a price.

Do you realize that you just put a price tag on your girlfriend? And a cheap one at that. $35 is not that much...I don't care how poor you are. You need to re-think this matter. If you do not have $, no gift is better than a cheap gift. Do something that does not cost $. Take her on a picnic with a bottle of wine (you can get cheap ones for $2)

But really, she does not mean that much to you or $35 would not be a problem.

Is a teddy really a gift for her? Or for you?

Doe she wear teddies? Does she like them?

$35 is dirt cheap for anything in women's lingerie. If you buy it cheaper, odds are it will be scratchy, won't fit well, or will fall apart the first time she tries to wash it (or wear it!).
