Your post interests me because you do have a definite type of preference. How did you know you would be attracted to an older type of guy? Were you attracted first, then went after him or did he find you and show you that you could be attracted to that type?

I ask because I never once looked at a man with gray hair until one pursued me. He sure showed me what my preference was!

I’ve always liked guys way older than me. I am in no way sexual attracted to young guys and generally don’t like guys under 50yo. MM fibbed about his age when we met; he said he was 49yo when he’d turned 50yo earlier in the year. He slipped out his true age not long after in conversation, but thought I didn’t notice. Little did he know it would have worked in his favor to be older.

MM isn’t my type at all, but when I saw him I was immediately physically attracted. I don’t know why since there was nothing about his look that was my taste, but hey... I now seem to find men with features that resemble MM attractive.

He approached me first after a friend tipped him off that I was interested. He struck up a couple of kinda testing-the-waters conversations and asked for my ph# before I left. However, he seems to “remember” it as I approached him.

If you were to line up 10 different men I'd pick the ***hole. So this is apparently my type.

I'm seriously single now and trying to figure out exactly what character defect of mine causes me to choose this type.

I'm right there with ya!!!!!

What kind of emotional scarring did that leave? :p

Ha ha, emotional scarring? Just years and years of wishing I'd married him instead of exH that's all.:p

Why would you want to marry anyone whose name was Little anything? ? Size matters, you know... :p

:lmao: the above is funny!

Anyway, I guess I DO have a type. I found out I prefer a man at least 10 years older than me! or at least, 10 years MENTALLY older than me..lol.! I like a man who knows exactly what they want and goes for it.

I like universally (physically) attractive men . And (this may sound superficial) I like a man who earns more than me-not because I want to be supported, far from that actually ( I can support myself very well and then some!) but I just do not want to have to deal with whether he is going to be ok with me earning more than him-would rather spend that time worrying about other things, if I must!

Type? Umm, not really. I guess I tend to lean more to one hair colour than others. I like men that are professionals, intelligent, with a very witty sense of humour. Those that are self sufficient and enjoy the nuances of debate.

Oh and broad shoulders. I think I have a weakness for broad shoulders. :o:D

Why weren't you around to tell me that BEFORE I got M???:p

YES - definite type.

Dark, handsome. Smart.

Actually - smart tops the list!!

Bigger body build ... I really like that.

Oh - forgot to add: HAS to be older. I like that too.

My ex was dark haired, very thin, etc. It's strange.

Interesting question. xMM and I were both each other's "type" in our minds - the type we had conjured up for ourselves in our minds but never ended up with. Physically we were also very different from the type of person each of us was ever with in real life. He gravitated towards very thin blondes and I am neither thin nor blonde and I almost never dated blonde men and he is blonde (in so many ways ).

While this thread is directed to APs, BSs are free to post their insights on this, even if the question might not directly apply to them. It was sparked by something I read on another thread...

Do you go for a certain "type" of man / woman? Did your AP fit that "type", or were they very different - an attempt to break the pattern, perhaps?

If your A is in the past - have you gone back to your "type" in any subsequent Rs?

Oh you bet I do. Its been consistent my whole life.

Asian or Hispanic. No taller than 5'7"...thin hips, no more than 36B (34 are best)...educated, black hair, dark skin...uh, excuse me while I excuse myself for a few minutes...ahem:)

My type.

Over 6'3, dominant and able to take me down (which is a feat)

An older thread that I've read but never posted on until now. Yes, I definitely have a type. 6' 3" at least (the taller the better), dark hair (nice hair, like that), handsome, athletic, intelligent and funny (very) with a nice smile.

The BF (very serious R) before my H and my exMM both fit this to a T. My H has all but the tall and hair going for him. But there is something about the tall and the hair that attracts me. I find that I gravitate right to them just when I'm out in public.

I wish attractiveness wasn't that important to me. I recognize it in myself but not sure how to change that. After it's all said and done it is what's inside (if they were a jerk and attractive I'd be turned off completely) but it's the initial attraction that gets ya. Oh wait, my exAP was a jerk and attractive. I for some reason didn't get turned off. Silly me!!:p

I am a MW and an exMOW (if I can be both...). Anyway, I go for the sporty type, not too tall, with a good sense of humour. Both my long term relationships and my AP had these traits. Interesting thread by the way.
