I've known this man for half a year and we met when he was in my city for work. He alternates between his city and mine every month because of work. When I had "the talk" with him the other day, he said he was checking to see whether there were chances of a move to my city but he's not sure.

Believable or a way to string me along?

Could you say why you believe him?

Do you have any reason NOT to believe him?? If he is splitting his time 50/50 in 2 cities it seems reasonable to think he could consider living in either one.

Well, are there any problems in the relationship (besides his work)? It just sounds like he has a tough job with lots of travel and saying he will try to move to your city shows something. When he says he isn't sure, it could have something to do with his employer not letting him go. Unless he has shown certain aspects in the relationship that make you suspicious, there is no reason not to believe him.

I guess because I won't know if he already has an SO in his city. He split his time between the cities because he has to for work, not because he wants to.

I've heard of cases where people say some things to stall time. So I'm unsure whether to believe him.

Until he shows you something worth questioning, I would believe him. Innocent until proven guilty.
