Lakeside_runner Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I'm running around one of the lakes (actually I ran around all 3 of 'em). As I start running around the last lake I see two girls taking a walk. One of them is wearing a sweatshirt from the university I'm going to work for as faculty beginning this summer. I figure out - if they're still there when I'm coming the other way, I'll stop and chat her up if she went there to get her undergrad degree and/or if she liked it etc. And you know what?! I did it! I saw them coming, I stopped, took my earbuds out and ask her. Turns out she was just visiting and liked the sweatshirt so she decided to buy it :/ Oh well, I wished them an enjoyable rest of the walk and continued on running. Still... I'm kinda proud of it... I've never done stuff like that before Why is it easier for me to run 13 miles and bike 20 after that than find a girl???
Author Lakeside_runner Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 I actually was about to post today a question if too much physical activity could be a turn off

Author Lakeside_runner Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 Forrest Gump? Eh - I may be running a lot but my IQ is not 75
CLC2008 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Eh - I may be running a lot but my IQ is not 75 Errm. I meant running.
Author Lakeside_runner Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 Errm. I meant running. Geez... everytime I go through a break up I've this urge for more and more physical activity. The danger now is - I'm actually thinking of doing an ironman triathlon next. Well, there's nothing beyond that so... that'd be it!

I don't know what an ironman triathlon is though.

Um... it's like the ultimate challenge: 2.4 miles swimming, 112 miles biking and 26.2 miles running on top of it You have 17 hours to complete it.

OK actually I have heard of it, my uncle is an avid runner and he was talking about that one time. He's done a couple of the NY marathons actually, cool stuff
counterman Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Wow, that's crazy. Good on you for maintaining this letter of physical activity. Go for the triathlon;) On a side note, what would you say (approx.) is the equivalent of 10 miles jogging in terms of miles bike riding?
boogieboy Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Why is it easier for me to run 13 miles and bike 20 after that than find a girl??? Because you dont put expectations and anxiety on running. You know what the result is already. If you worry about the result when walking up to women it makes you nervous. BTW you shouldnt be posting about approaching ONE woman, you should be posting about TEN women you approached. You keep making a big deal about only one women you approached, you'll never get a gf.
mrkleen Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I used to date a girl, and anytime we had an issue in our relationship - her answer was to go for a run. After a while it was clear that she was running not just for fitness - but to run away from her fear of intimacy. I am happy that found a way to stay fit (she used to be more than 200 lbs - now she is around 130) - but anything that takes too big a part of your life is not a good thing imo.

Author Lakeside_runner Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 ...anything that takes too big a part of your life is not a good thing imo. I agree with you. I think that so far I keep it balanced so no worries there. It's not like I spend all my time in the gym or outside. Damn - it just would be nice to find someone to go out for a run with
