Romance Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Just wondering how long it has been for everyone here. It's been 2 years for me..and I feel like it is getting harder! this is not supposed to happen! haha. I thought it'd get so much easier.

Coming up on two years, and it's also been getting harder, even ignoring the recent craziness from the past two weeks. I thought I'd get more used to the distance, and I kind of have, but it's tiring. Been madly in love with each other for 6 years. Back together for 2 years. I fall harder and harder for him every day. :love: That's so sweet. You guys are super adorable.

I fall harder and harder for him every day. :love: Awww, I love reading your lil updates about you and you're fiance You two really love each other and it's great to see because 1) it shows true love does still exist and 2) it gives me and everyone else here hope that sometimes LDRs really are worth it.

Same here. When we're together we fight a little sometimes but its nothing we don't fix you know. Its hard to not see each other..its like we get into texting fights over the dumbest things! haha
marionthelibrarian Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 6 months. Caught up with my childhood sweetheart at a reunion and have never had an LDR. And that thread "Counting the days" with 115 pages scares the heck out of me! Hoping to learn somethings from you all cause this sure ain't easy!

I find that it's easier to fall into an argument when talking through those, so we try to be careful and use the phone for more important things. Switching to the phone has prevented a bunch of misunderstandings.

Not so sure how you guys that do this for years handle it...this is the first time we've met and it will drive me insane being away from him. Completely worth it as he is simply the most perfect person for me, just happens to live 9500 miles away.

Even the phone is bad in a way - can't much read nonverbal gestures, can't just touch someone to and show that you still love them and thus diffuse a critical situation (which is far easier than SAYING so!), can't hold each other after a long talk about difficult circumstances to quietly reassure each other that everything will be okay.

I've been in his country for the past 2.5 months so I've kinda forgotten how much the distance sucks. I'm not excited to go home at the end of this month, but I'm already arranging plans to come back as soon as I can, so that should make it easier. Chin up guys!
SophieA Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Right around a year in LDR. I was lucky enough to have him with me in the same place for around 5 years before he left for med school. I don't think it ever gets easier but it's worth it. We're lucky enough that we haven't had to go more than 9 weeks without seeing each other. That's just about all I can bear though. I don't know how some posters go several months without seeing each other. They're much tougher than me! Guess you just gotta do what you gotta do.

We are very far away (Ireland and Hong Kong) so we cherish every minute we meet online and in real, or communicate in sms or phone. Time is never enough for us and we don't afford a minute to argue. We do our best to be supportive , caring and loving all moments to make our SO the happiest person.:love: Real love is great! Can't imagine living without him again!
