Bear with me, because this isn't a cut-n-paste job from some magazine:

--If you don't have a pot to piss in, do NOT think you're gonna tell me how to live my life

---if you've never owned your own home, had a mortgage in your name, (let alone a lease for god's sake), do NOT think you're gonna tell me how to live my life

--if you wear visible white socks EVER - with your tennis shoes, "dress" shoes, shorts, slacks, whatever. Do NOT think you're gonna tell me how to dress, or even begin to imagine that you can judge any of the above

--if you're gonna pull the "lord of the manor" routine, you better damn well have an actual manor to lord over.

Basically - if you're gonna come at me with any kind of judgment, you better have something substantial of your own to defend. Funny thing though, the most judgmental guys? Don't have sh*t going for them.

Sorry to burst your (unfounded) egotistical bubble.

The plain truth is, no one gives a sh*t what you think.

Well recent history has proven that mortgages havent always been the most wise investments,so...if you think thats some way to judge peoples financial savvy youre just wrong there.....

I feel sufficiently chastised. Can I go now?

Your damn right that I'll judge someone's financial "savvy" if they're in their 40s and have never owned a damn thing EVER.

This may not be a buyer's market right now, but what about 5/10 years ago?

If me being just "a dumb girl, who is looking for a man to take care of me" (sigh) could manage to buy a house at 29, what does that say??!!

OK, wait a minute. I was following you until I got the white socks thing. Why are white socks a problem again?

They need to have two broad green stripes around the top. Then they are ok.

What if we have a mortgage but are broke because of it? Would that be ok?

And yet, you've been on the board reading what these people think for the best part of four years.

Perhaps this will suffice as an explanation.

Unless he's dressed to participate in a sporting activity, when I see a man wearing white socks with normal clothes I tend to think he must have just come out of prison after serving a very lengthy term (early 1980s "style"). Or that he might be an inmate from a different kind of institution.

Hey Taramere, leave Shoestring alone - he was lovely for his time :laugh:

Noooooooooooooooooo.

I can remember my first forays (as an underager, I'm going to stress) into the world of nightclubs. Every second man had that Shoestring style. I'm convinced that's why so many girls switched to a fetish for punks with their mohicans and DM boots. The alternative was unthinkable.

Maybe you have a point - especially when you consider this look:

I own my own home and I have it paid off at 31 so is it okay if I tell you how to live your life now? I sometimes do wear white socks with sneakers but I will leave you alone about how to dress. Do we have a deal?

Owned my home since 28 years old..... I have a nice pot to piss in and I am Lord of this place lol.

I wear white socks though....damn I used to wear black, but some girls said men in black socks and "briefs" were a turn off. So I went with Boxers and white socks....

Dammit....now what to do? Charcoal color socks?....

As a female, I find your post rather angry. It's OK to have your preferences in men you date, but why the anger? If you don't want a guy who rents, then just don't date them. If you feel these guys are telling you what to do with your life, then don't date them.

I don't find the same in men I choose to date. They aren't telling me what to do with my life.

That said, I do know a guy friend of mine who was encouraging his girlfriend to get a 4 year degree when he didn't have one himself.

I didn't understand the point of this thread at first, but now I do.

I am curious to know what happened on that fateful day. :p
