Having changes at work, got a little down, starting eating junk again, feel bad about it, get more down, eat more junk... I am just so sick of it. Its the stress, need help........:(

The motivation and mental discipline that it takes in order to stay on track with a clean diet and exercise plan is something that can really only come from within. Some people solicit a little extra "help" by paying money for personal training or attending things like fitness boot camps, but even those people have made the choice to dedicate some of their resources to their own health.

If you don't have the discipline to hold yourself accountable for your habits, then try to employ the help of someone else to be accountable to. Whether they be someone you pay (trainer), or just a diet/workout buddy, accountability is the first step.

Ultimately though, you'll need to actively change your lifestyle habits (your diet, your physical activity levels, and how you deal with stress) in order to see long term benefits.

From your brief post, it sounds like you feel victimized by your work situation and life in general. You need to get out of the mindset that stress causes you to eat poorly and not exercise. As an adult, you make those decisions. The vast majority of people know how to eat somewhat cleanly, and they know they should be exercising regularly, but there are so many that come up with every excuse not to.

I'd be willing to bet that if you drank more water, exercised more, ate more cleanly, and slept more, you'd find yourself more able to deal with outside stress because you'd be more clear headed and energized.

If I completely mis-read you and the intent of your post, I apologize.

No you are right overall. I do workout 3-4 days a week, I actually enjoy working out and am quite fit but I do feel like a victim sometimes and I go to the "poor me" side which is so lame. UGH I am so mad just thinking about it!! I just feel stressed and am over the top some days. So i eat junk, like a freaking drug addict...Then I get mad at myself plus junk makes me feel like crap! I don't need a personal trainer, should I ask a friend to help me or maybe see a counselor. I know at the end of the day I need to stop this cycle....Its dragging me down. Huge downer:(

I know how this is.

I've been doing it for about three years, but being alone doesn't help. Just too easy to get something quick like chips and dip and some pop then avoid all the hassle of cleaning up dishes. I don't even use dishes anymore.

It's ok to have comfort food while in a down stage, we all do that, but try and get outside and find something to brighten your day. Don't keep yourself in a slump and do nothing to get better. You'll become lazy like me and then it will seem hopeless and impossible to pull out of the slump.

Try to keep positive and good luck.

The thing that stuff is addicting. Eating it causes you blood sugars to peak and valley that it does feed on itself. Try some forced discipline, get the crap out of the house, out of the desk, out of the car. Bring a bucket full of good stuff along with you, yogurt , carrots, almond, dates, celery sticks so if you need to munch at least you have something goo to munch. then getting out of the habit all together will be easier.

I'll second this, Summerlady. I'll give you the same advice that I gave someone else on this board: purchase a lunch box. Take some time out of your day to prepare healthy foods that you can carry with you at all times. If you are stress eating, you might as well snack on something that's going to be somewhat non-fattening, such as veggies, ALMONDS (big fan), beef jerky, etc.

You also have to keep your liquid calories in check. Stick to water, but if you need a little extra flavor, try unsweetened green tea. Juices, sweetened coffee, smoothies, and other similar items will load you up with empty (read: fattening) calories real fast too.

Great job on hitting the gym regularly. Since you already have 1/2 of the equation in place, getting your diet in check should be a slam dunk!

I eat junk food some times to. I don't want to eat junk but some times just ordering a pizza or eating a bunch of bread or candy just seems so easy.

The truth is we both know what we need to do to make ourselves feel better. Don't let what you did in the past, effect your present. If you had junk food at lunch it doesn't mean you have to have junk food for dinner. It can be easy to eat healthy, just eat a banana they are filling. Have some whole grain pasta with steamed vegies. Seriously, as long as you stay away from fried foods, sugar drinks, and candies (including bread) you'll be fine. Snack on carrots, enjoy some greens, cut down on meat and have small amounts of fish, chicken or egg.

Feel better! No, one is perfect... I mean atleast I'm not
