Then he said when he knows he will let me know:oUGHhhhhhhhhh. This is my first bf and we have been together for four months, and dated for a while before that. **So I was just curious...When/what made you realize you actually loved the person you were with???** This is probably a dumb question...but I want to know!

That's lust or infatuation. Those things inevitably fade. Love continues because you choose it and take steps to continue choosing it.

People's minds are subject to change without notice for a variety of reasons. It takes very special people to commit to loving each other despite all the temptation, problems and other crap that exists in the world today. When all the love chemicals have neutralized, there have to be very real reasons to keep it together. Regrettably, often those reasons have to do with finances or children and NOT because the two want to be there for each other.

That's why I will never say those words first, even if I am feeling it, I want to make sure those feelings are reciprocated.

It's when you start thinking in terms of us instead of me, when you can look at them and clearly see them for who they are (faults and all) and still realize that you don't want to be with anyone else still. It's a great feeling when reciprocated, but when ripped away it can throw you into a personal hell.
