I just started reading this book and it's been very helpful. It's called "The Journey from Abandonment to Healing" by Susan Anderson. I wish I had it at the beginning of my break up. I think I would have maybe dealt with things a little better. It is kind of telling me the things I needed to hear. OH well, I guess better late than never.

GC is a proponent of this book as well... What so far have you learned/take from it?

Very much so.

It speaks to the physiological and well as the emotional effects of a relationship ending in a way that that is both comforting yet challenging. It does a good job of helping the reader to understand and acknowledge the hurt while giving guidance to move forward. Not only with words but some solid "exercises" that can be quite helpful.

And for those who are finding it specially difficult to let go, it can help to recognize how past losses can pay a part with complicating the healing of a current end of a realtionship.

A great book I have recently read is "The Saint, The Surfer and The CEO" by Robin Sherma. Excellent read for anyone going through a struggle in their life.

Another great one is "rebuilding when your relationship ends". It takes you through almost every emotion and stage you will have (19 in all) and helps you deal with each of them. really helped me gain some perspective and helped me know I wasn't going crazy :)

Susan Anderson kicked my butt and I liked it.

Thanks for the book references everyone. I was going to post a thread yesterday asking if anyone knows of any good books related to breakups but I got sidelined by work. I log in today and here it is :)

I also recommend this book. The descriptions of each of the stages had me saying out loud, "Wait, that's me!" and I found the "being in the moment" exercise to be a particularly good lifesaver :)
