my ex breaking it off with me was the best thing that could have ever happened to me

havent made a post in a while, but i do remember consoling this board quite a bit when my ex left me. long story short, 5 year first love ended pretty badly, left me for an old ex, life shattered blah blah.

 

There was somethign that clicked inside of me that made me say to myself "i dont want to be miserable like this" so i started hitting the gym, and hitting it hard. It has been almost 6 months since she left me and i have lost 75 pounds. I am going to europe this summer to go backpackikng as well. and while im not 100%, i have learned more about women, my friends, and myself in the last 6 months than i could ever have when i was with her.

 

so im sure alot of you are going through what i went through. Just remember, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and keep your head up. you only have one life, remember that

I am in complete agreeance (yes, I know that's not a real word) with you...although I miss my ex like CRAZY, breaking up with her was the best thing for the both of us, and I'm grateful that it happened...I wouldn't be the person I am today if we were still together...so I know exactly what you mean...

 

Just wish I could see that light at the end of the tunnel...

I'm waiting to see that light too. I've caught a glimpse of it, but when I least expect it everything goes dark again. I know that my breakup was the best thing for me too, but I am still having a hard time with it. Some days are great; others, like tonight, are bad. All it took was watching a tv show where two people who were in a new relationship were standing there with their arms around each others' waists and I kept thinking "That's how we used to be in the beginning," and it's all rolled downhill from there. I just keep telling myself that the person I fell in love with is not real; he is a sociopath with a mask on, playing a part to get what he wants. It doesn't make it any easier on nights like this, but hopefully someday I won't have to tell myself anything because all feelings will be dead. He was a horrible boyfriend, but he knew how to play a good one one in the beginning.
