DenverBachelor Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) I saw this little kid with his mom throwing a **** fit in the candy isle because they were out of his favorite candy. You would have thought that he just learned that the world was coming to a quick end. He was screaming at his mom to get him some Reeces Pieces and he would accept absolutely no substitute. That little dude was surrounded by chocolate, sugar, waxie chewables, lollipops, Pixie Stixs and everything else under the sun but he would have none of it -- he wanted Reeces Pieces. That got me thinking about relationships and wondering if we sometimes act like a little kid in the candy isle throwing a hissy fit because our favorite candy is gone. The only reason why it was probably his favorite to begin with is that he just ate it all the time and never experimented with anything else. How many times do we get so fixated on one thing, we block everything else out because we NEED that one thing. And god help us if that this becomes unavailable or hard to get -- because then we're all just little kids throwing a big fat hissy fit in the candy isle. (Maybe he was going hiking with ET?) thepulse27 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I think you speak the truth, and the kid will eventually learn this too. But it's when he finds out that they weren't actually out of Reeses pieces, they just prefer giving them to another kid now, that I'm worried about. And whiny fat kids make you contemplate life and love? you might be the deepest person I have ever known.
threebyfate Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 The interesting parallel is that candy isn't good for us.
Rearden Metal Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 hahaha this is an appropriate metaphor. I think you're pretty accurate. Problem is, I JUST bought a bag of Reesie's Peecies. True Story And, my ex's dog is named Reesey. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!
thepulse27 Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 'you might be the deepest person I have ever known.' The interesting parallel is that candy isn't good for us. I may have spoken too soon...
alphamale Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 i never really get very attached with one woman cause i know there are so many more. its sort of the reverse of this situation with the kid. i like to think that dating takes place in a large candy store and the aisles are all stocked with different types of chicks. some of the chicks will like me and some won't, either way there is plenty of supply and variety. as long as you keeep walking down the aisles sampling you'll be fine
thepulse27 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 yes but the difference here is it sounds like the kid actually likes candy.
