Inspired by the lyrics of a much loved song;

Are those of us involved in infidelity still searching for a happy ever after we didn't find in our Ms?

Should we wise up and get with the real?

Are we (especially women) sent on a mission to find Mr Perfect and then in truly foolish fashion fall for new lotharios if we haven't worked out the fairytale isn't real?

Is it a stitch up to feel there is one true love for each of us?

So few people even here on LS ever say that whatever their love interest is at the time (WS, MM, MW, BS, cat, internet forums) that they know that it is the love of their life. Or not without sounding ridiculous anyway.

Has anyone here loved, but known that a particular love wrote off all the others as contenders?

I wish I had found that happy ever after with my spouse.

I don't think so. I want the happy ever after. Why shouldn't I? It could be the real is the real though.

Why isn't the fairytale real? Can't we have our Lothario?

Oooooh. I'm not there. I think each of us could find quite a few true loves. Maybe I'm not a romantic. There are way too many nice and heartfelt people out in the world for me to think there is one true love for me. I think. ;) I don't mean there isn't one true love I could be with. But surely there is more than one person in the WORLD who could be my true love. I think there are many possibilities.

Psssssh. Sounding ridiculous to who? Who gives a rip?!! I mean really. Are we really trying to be approved by others? I hope not. I have regurgitative reactions to that. We could meet someone who makes us not interested in pursuing other someones out there. But the other someones are out there. But if we're content, why pursue?

I've loved. I've had an affair, so I didn't write off the contender. I really loved both in such different ways. It's difficult to describe or defend my own actions/feelings. I always think of my cliff scenario. Who would I grab the hand of if I could only save one as they cling to the edge of a cliff? At first I thought my husband. At the beginning of the affair. Now, I think both of them get flung up on to high ground and my ass can go spiraling down into the abyss.

Hope this isn't true! I'm sure yours is as good as either's. Don't throw yourself under a bus! :)

But maybe you mean you can't choose, and this is the equivalent of throwing yourself. An interesting and uncomfortable thought for the split self people.
