Chilean earthquake

So my ex and i haven't spoken since September. We were together for 5 years and had even planned to get married, he loved my family to death. Anyways, we left off on ok terms. He did however cuss my brother out when he thought he hadn't paid a bill on a movie he ordered but he didn't know that my brother had paid it already. So my question is........Is it ok for me to feel really hurt that he hasn't made any attempt what so ever to see if my family back in Chile is ok??? He knows my mom and dad go every year around this time to visit. My mom is actually currently stranded over there!

 

I'm mad because if anything big would have happened in his life, i would have at least called or left a message letting him know that i was thinking about him and hoping everything was ok. I know he doesn't owe me anything, but i guess i figured i still mattered to him...... Is that weird???

It isn't "weird," per se -- but you have to remember that the two of you are no longer dating. The "human" thing would seem to be that he would want to check on your parents, but unfortunately that isn't the case. He has no real obligation to care about you or your family any more because you two are no longer a couple.

 

As heart breaking as that may sound, it is his prerogative to not contact you or your family. Whether or not that is the "right" thing to do on the big scheme of things -- well, he'll be the one to have to live with his decisions. It really isn't your place to judge or hand out karma.
