I know there are many things we all need and desire within a relationship but for the purpose of this thread you can only list one. To be enjoyed for who I am. Which to me, means that I am accepted for who I am.

threebyfate Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Core values are lists of "thou shalts" and "thou shalt nots", not necessarily reliant on religion. This is where respect and trust comes from, in that you define your boundaries of ethical behaviours, sourcing from these foundational values. IMO, without respect and trust, there can't be real love. So that's why compatibility of core values is my #1 requirement, in a relationship.

Well, I think everyone else has posted the NUMBER ONE things necessary for a successful relationship... If I had to chose one thing which wasnt already mentioned, I would chose humor. More importantly the ability to laugh at oneself. Without that, life is gonna be a long, tough, haul.
