Mixed Signals

Okay, this is going to be extremely long, and I apologize for it, but I feel like I should give as much detail as I can, haha.

 

Well, first off, I'm an 18 year old girl without any experience with guys. And I've been going to improv club for about a month now at my college. And there's this guy there, let's call him David, and he's suuuper hilarious. Pretty much anything that comes out of his mouth makes me laugh. He's also a pretty weird and wacky guy, and can be hyper (when he's not hungry/mopey). Which is why I'm not sure if normal 'guy behavior' when analyzing him would even work, lol.

 

And since I love people who make me laugh, I was easily attracted to him. And now I'm actually sort of getting the feeling like he may like me, too. But I'm not sure, I feel like I keep getting mixed signals.

 

Like, at first, we didn't really talk much, and I figured we'd never even get the chance to talk one-on-one, because improv games were always going on. But we do end up getting to talk a bit now and then, like him telling jokes and stuff.

 

Also, he always comes with two other friends, Allie and Jake. They're always hanging out together, always entering and leaving improv, but I think Allie is just their good friend (I hope!).

 

So, last Friday, after improv, five of us go to McDonald's, David, Jake, Allie, another improv girl - Valerie, and me. But Allie leaves to go to a Chinese restaurant where she gets free food, and we were all just going to meet back at the student lounge at school. So, the four of us go back, and Allie's held up for a couple hours because it's Chinese New Year or something, so she's partying there, haha.

 

We're all sitting at a table and eating, and eventually, Valerie leaves. And then Jake goes upstairs to do some school work while waiting for Allie's to come back. I figured David would follow along with him, and I'd just go home. But David stayed there, so he and I talked for like, an hour, until 11 when Allie and Jake came back. It really surprised me that he actually stayed. He did mostly talk about himself, though, which I was fine with, because I was interested in learning more about him, lol.

 

He'd talk about how his roommates aren't any fun, like when he'd try and make a pillow man (put pants and face on a pillow) and set him up in different scenes around his dorm. Or when he'd make sandwiches and put them down in random places, haha, and then how he got really sick last October.

 

Then when Allie and Jake came, we all left and went outside; they went toward Jake's, and I went to my dorm. And when I was leaving, David jokingly says to me, "I'll see you....tonight!"

 

 

And then this past Wednesday at improv, we talked a bit more. Like, I told him that I read his comics he has on Facebook and thought they were hilarious. A couple of the ones I liked, he was saying no one else understood or thought were funny. And then he'd tell some more jokes and make gestures during the times we sit near each other.

 

And afterward, when we're all going down the crowded elevator, he's standing next to me, and I see him quickly touch my school bag (because there was a ripped part on it), but he didn't notice that I saw. And then, lol...while still in the elevator, he asks who farted. And he turns to me, and I'm like, what? He said that he was staring at me so that people didn't realize it was him. Then Jake jokingly shouts from the other side of the elevator that it was him. (They're all about 22 but still can be kind of immature, obviously, but they're still so much fun, haha.)

 

 

Then this past Friday at improv, he was first sitting on the other side of the classroom. But he normally switches spots after playing different improv games. And at one point, he's sitting next to my bag and coat, but Valerie was sitting in my spot then because I was playing a game, so I sat in the seat in front when I came back. And later on, David ended up sitting in the rolly chair to the right of me. And he'd keep coming back to that seat after each game.

 

So, at the end of improv, they were talking about getting something to eat at McDonald's, so I was gonna tag along again, but then Jake suggested that they could just get something at the convenient store since he had spaghetti back at his place, and they were going there to work on a project. So, I didn't get to hang out again with them that night, but I did walk with them toward the store since it was on my way back to my dorm.

 

 

(And backing up a bit, earlier that night, I asked Jake for his phone number, because he's in charge of improv on Wednesdays. So in the event of an emergency or something, I'd have it. And later, I got Allie's number because she had said that we should hang out sometime outside of improv. And now this is where things get really confusing (and hard for me to explain).)

 

So, we're all walking outside towards the store, and I'm sort of lagging behind as Jake, Allie, and Valerie are up front, but David was sort of lagging behind them, too, so we started talking. Since I got the other two's numbers, I asked him if we could exchange them, too. And he said that he never answers his phone, so I'm like, okay, it doesn't matter then. Then he made some joke that I didn't hear/understand - he was kinda mumbling a lot here, so I didn't know what he was talking about most of the time. XD But I think it ended up with him saying I could have his number.

 

And then he asked why I wanted it. I guess maybe he didn't notice when I got Jake's and Allie's earlier, though he was in the same room each time it happened, lol. But I jokingly said that I was going to stalk him and trace him on the Internet or something. Then this other improver, Andy, caught up with us from the school. They started talking for a bit, and somehow came on the topic of stealing. And David jokes to Andy that I stole something, because Asians are thieves, and I agreed and admitted to it. (And I had made a joke and mentioned earlier that I was Asian [Filipina], and David had thought I was Native American.)

 

Then somehow we get back on the topic of his phone number, with David saying something about it maybe being on his Facebook. But then thinking it wasn't because he doesn't have much information on there. He was saying even his name wasn't real or something because it was spelled differently - I had no idea what was going on at this point, but he was like, making different jokes or something, and I was just going along with it, haha.

 

Sorry, I know that part was really confusing, I'm very confused as well! But all I know is everyone was in the store at this point, so I was about ready to cross the street to go to my dorm, but David had stayed out there at the corner with me to talk for a couple more minutes outside in the dark as it's snowing.

 

Then David asked if the others were getting something to eat in the store instead of going to McDonald's, and I said yeah. So he decided to go in and get something to eat (because he's always hungry), so that's when I said I'd see him later and left. And I never did get his phone number, lol.

 

So, I'm very confused by all of this, and I have no idea what to make of it. Maybe he's just a friendly guy who likes to chat and whatnot, haha. And although he talks to me sometimes, he also just follows Allie and Jake around. So before improv on Fridays, Allie and David will be in the computer lab or something, and in no hurry to come to improv, so they're late a lot. And I wondered, if he was interested in me, wouldn't he want to go to improv? Since I'm there every time. But also, during the games, when he does/says something that makes everyone laugh, I notice that at least half the time he'll look over at me, if that means anything.

 

So, yeah, I really have no clue about him; I already don't know anything about guys, and he seems kinda different from normal ones, haha.

 

I know the only way to truly find out is to ask him, but I'm really too nervous to do that just yet, so I was hoping for some people's opinions on it. So, any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated! Thanks! =)
