sedgwick Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I have been awake for the last 36 hours, packing like a maniac. The movers are coming today to put all my stuff in storage. Tomorrow I will be on a plane to Mexico! I am exhausted and stressed, but very excited. One week from now, when I'm lazing around in a hammock on the beach, it will all seem very far away -- I just keep telling myself that!!! I can stand approximately 24 more hours of NYC before I collapse; I'm running on fumes as it is. It has been a dream of mine my entire life to a) live in a foreign country for an extended period of time and b) live on the beach. Now I'm going to fulfill that dream, which I can do because I'm single and childless. I just put down a deposit on a rental house there -- a tiny house, but a house nonetheless, with orange and lime trees growing right outside my window. I'm so thrilled to get to have this adventure, and I know this is something I'd never have done if I was still with Joe. So for those of you who have been dumped and have always wanted to do something like this, I highly recommend you go for it! Just think, if you end up part of a couple again you might never have the chance to go somewhere exotic on your own and get to know yourself! Seize the day!!
openbook08 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 FABULOUS sedgewick!!! good for you, what an adventure!! im making my big trip to australia this summer & i cannot wait!!! all the v v best 2u xoxo
Brightmoon Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 All the best sedgewick. Your new house sounds idyllic. Hope you'll tell us how you are getting on.
mickleb Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Ok, Seddy: calm down. Breathe. Breathe again. Eat something. Have a nap. Take a walk in the park. I'm REALLY glad you're looking at your break-up as an opportunity to grow and explore yourself, and the world around you. WELL fkn DONE. That's massive. I hope this experience brings you everything you deserve but don't let it take YOU OVER. I can't tell you it's not exciting. It is exciting. But deal with that and take YOURSELF THERE, don't let it take YOU AWAY. Do ya know what I mean? (You do?! Good. Then, have fun.) x
HeavenOrHell Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Brilliant! Good for you, good luck and have fun
LucreziaBorgia Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 That sounds amazing, and I hope that you will do well and live well down there. I bet it will be beautiful.
sao2 Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Cheers Sedgwick and good luck. Enjoy the beach and the beautiful weather. I lived on the beach(ok a 5 minute walk) for a year myself and it was great. I have since moved but I still live close(10 minute drive) to the beach and I can never go back to winter weather. Good luck and have fun.
Art_Critic Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Have the time of your life out there.. amazing... Take lots of pictures and enjoy yourself..
curiousnycgirl Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Enjoy every moment, live life to the fullest, BE OPEN, and if the opportunity presents itself, GET YOUR GROOVE ON!!!
Author sedgwick Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Thanks everybody! I appreciate your support. I hope this helps me get over this heartache once and for all. The movers just left, and I realized that tomorrow I will see the door he walked out of for the last time. It feels really amazing. I won't still live in the neighborhood where I have to walk past all the places we used to go. It's significant and feels very much like the end of a chapter in my life. Curiousnycgirl, I am taking a whole bunch of NYC condoms with me! I figure they'll be a good gift to new friends if nothing else!
