Cora Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Hey, I didn't know where else to post this so I apologize if this is not the right place for it. Anyway, I think I may be having an allergic reaction. I woke up with my face and neck all red, itchy, burning and it's a bit puffy and swollen. I don't know what else it could be, but perhapse the new lotion I used? I have since stopped using it and have been taking some Benadryl. It's almost like a rash of some sorts and it's not too comfortable! Any ideas of what else it could be? Does this sound like an allergic reaction to the lotion? What else can I do to make this go away asap? Eek...please help? My face looks like a big red puffy balloon!!!
laRubiaBonita Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 it does sound like an allergic reaction... you use the new lotion in just that area? is the benadryl helping? do you have any hydrocortisone cream? a cool rag might help with the swelling..... poor you!
Author Cora Posted February 28, 2010 Author Posted February 28, 2010 Hey thank you! Well, that's the odd thing. I used the lotion all over, but it's only my face, neck and a little bit of my chest that has been effected it seems. I don't understand why the rest of my body wouldn't be all red? I mean it's a little red in between the creases of my elbows, but nothing compared to my face. The lotion is the only thing that I can think of that would cause this because it's a new kind I've never used before. I can't think of anything else it could be. The lotion was the first thing I thought of since it's new. This will teach me to test just a little bit first before applying it all over! sheesh! I just don't remember ever having a reaction like this to anything except maybe when I was younger. I have VERY sensative skin so I always have to be careful with what I use on it. I haven't noticed much of a difference when taking the Benadryl, but I have only taken one dose of it so far so maybe it's too soon? I will have to see if I have any hydrocortisone cream. I did apply some aloe vera to my face just to sooth it a bit because it burns like crazy! It just feels really dry now and rough and burns like a really bad sunburn! I will try a cool wet rag as well and continue with the Benadryl. Thanks again!
SaintDragon Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Sounds like a reaction to the lotion, but do see a doctor soon. It could just as well be a spider bite or something.
Star Gazer Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 Definitely sounds like an allergic reaction. I've experienced something similar when eating melons and shellfish. Do you have any food allergies?
Author Cora Posted March 1, 2010 Author Posted March 1, 2010 The only other meds I have taken were some cold and sinus meds because I have been sick with some sort of sinus infection or something. I've got the whole congestion, headache, sore throat, runny nose, cough thing going on so been taking meds for that. But these are all meds I've taken before without any problem. Also, I don't have any food allergies that I know of and haven't really eaten anything new or out of the ordinary. I'm really starting to think it was definitely the lotion now though because my arms are a little red and itchy now as well. For the most part I think the sweling has gone down in my face and my neck and face aren't so red anymore since I have stopped using the lotion. Right now my face is just very dry and itchy and it has now started peeling. Almost like after a bad sunburn. Hopefully it will continue to get better. Thanks all for the help!

If you have a little brother, he switched out your lotion for Poison Ivy juice, I bet you.
