Explorer Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 (edited) Say, you're out by a public pool and there's a mix of 30 people around. There's two types of men around (A and B) that grab your attention: Man A: He seems to attract all the attention; he's good looking, funny, loud (Some would say arrogant), sports player - the jock type, has 3 other men following him around (Beta's), and the ladies are very responsive to him. Man B: is off to the back (Observer type), who's also very good-looking, not interested in attracting attention, is respectful to others, has a witty sense of humor, soft-spoken, isn't concerned with having followers (Kind of the loner type), and many would label him the confident but not arrogant type. Man A would be the type to pick on the weak to prove a point. Man B would be the type to sit back, not engage in anyone else's business, but if Man A were to approach Man B in attempts to starting a fight, Man B would kick his arse, without a doubt. But Man B isn't interested in proving himself. Who would you consider the Alpha Male? Ladies, who would grab your attention more? Edited February 27, 2010 by Explorer
sagetalk Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Excellent post, many people forget about the other types of alpha males. They seem to think you're either a doormat beta or the jock. Real men are the other types of alpha males. I don't consider jerks to be real men. The "don't boss me around", "I'm not your wing man", "I do not follow the crowd" guy is still an alpha male, just not necessarily of the jerk variety. I don't think Alpha B's would beat alpha A's often in a fight though.
Lucy_b Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 B is the alpha i like b if i was lookin for a partner i would look just for what you described that is a genuien person to me no one likes a jerk please can you help me with my post - case of the ex -

He would grab my attention b/c he's confident and isn't concerned with others. He's definitely the alpha in my opinion.
txsilkysmoothe Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Can I have Man B's phone number, please?
Author Explorer Posted February 27, 2010 Author Posted February 27, 2010 Although on paper you'll are saying B, I'd be willing to wager than A would be the first choice IRL.
littlewhiterose Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Definitely B. And besides, Man A already has a three + audience already following him at all times. A "feeding/leeching" situation in and of itself is unattractive (IMO) and I think it'd knock Man A back a notch. I don't think Alpha B's would beat alpha A's often in a fight though. you'd be surprised...
sagetalk Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Although on paper you'll are saying B, I'd be willing to wager than A would be the first choice IRL. What was the point of your post? Are you looking for women to admit they go for A over B. It isn't going to happen. However, any guy over the age of 15 can tell you Alpha A usually gets first choice (aside from Divine intervention). Whether women admit it or not, it's just how romantic relationships work.
Woggle Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 B is the real alpha but 9 times out 10 women would go for A. I have had a few guys try to bully me in the past to impress their and I always enjoyed humiliating when they see I am tougher than I look. Real tough guys move in silence but women like the whole image.

I don't believe any of it anymore.

I know it's pointless to argue with you on this. man, these "alpha" threads are getting really old...

I believe what I see. I know I could probably kick the crap out of most of these hair gel wearing steroid enchanced, spray tanned types you see in the clubs out here but they would do much better with the women then I would because they have the image and I am just happy being me.
shadowplay Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 It depends on how you define Alpha male. A lot of people just connect it with surface behavior in public: exterior confidence, gregariousness, cockiness. Only B is alpha to the core because he possesses true confidence and doesn't rely on external validation. That said your description seems to presuppose that talkativeness in social settings is inversely related to core confidence. I don't think that's the case. You might be right in the extreme with someone who always needs to dominate the conversation, which suggests the constant need for external validation. I think most intelligent women will be drawn to someone like B but a bit more social (that's also my ideal). Overly shy guys can also be a hassle. A will attract a harem of bimbos, but he'll have trouble drawing quality women.

It's a matter of quality vs. quantity. You're only viewing it in terms of quantity -- how many chicks they can bone. But look at the kind of women they attract. The kind of guy you describe will most often attract the female version of himself. He's not going to attract a classy, intelligent, beautiful woman. Also, you can't compare yourself to Guy B because you're not confident at your core, Woggle. Edited February 27, 2010 by shadowplay
BG1985 Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 (edited) While women are saying they would go for guy B, chances are they will never notice him if he's just sitting off to the side by himself. Sometimes I tend to be more of the observer type. When it's around girls I've never met, it doesn't go well. After they get to know me however, they tell me that they thought I was creepy when they first hung around me. Women flock toward the guy who's out having fun. In this case they would go for A. threebyfate Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 There's a major difference between a loud guy and a confident man. There's also a major difference between a wall-flower/loner and a confident man.
melodymatters Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Oh please, this is like a rough copy of every typical Hollywood screenplay ! You know what I look for the VERY first second I enter the "pool party" ? MY type of guy. Tallish, skinny, angular features and dark hair. Think young Keith Richards. Because this is MY type, and we choose first with our eyes. Then, it's based on conversation and a loudmouth with hangers on doesn't seem like the "interesting conversation" type. Woggles description is jersey shore all the way, and how many woman over 25 really like hair gelled, spray tanned, sterioid dudes ? Strippers and people who call themselves Snookie, maybe....

When I speak of Alpha males success with women (particularly the A type mentioned in this thread) I'm talkin' about girls from 18-30, not above. When women are younger, they tend to gravitate towards dominate, jerk, males regardless of their looks. Women over 30 are a completely different matter altogether.

I don't know any intelligent woman who would date the type that Woggle described.
sagetalk Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 You're wrong. I don't know any intelligent woman who would date the type that Woggle described. All he did was describe a type of a type. A jerk Alpha male can be that way, but he can also be a preppy lacrosse or soccer player. Being an "A" Alpha male has nothing to do with looks, although they will almost always have large muscular builds. If they didn't, other guys would just beat the crap out of them for being jerks.

I wish you would! but let me ask you... do you really want to be with those type of women though? that would pick a guy like that? Because believe me, there are a LOT of us out there that would not want that type of guy. Stop thinking that's what ALL women want...

It's assumptive to state the bolded phrases. Not true. If you consider who really runs the planet Earth, it's primarily alpha males, who don't fit into the sand-kicking bully boy caricature, stated in the opening post. In essence, they're not all dumb jocks who are jerks.
