Geeks have always done it for me. But then, I'm rather geeky. My BF and I are currently listening to The Hobbit on tape, and we'll follow with Lord of the Rings. We don't care if that's dorky. He thinks I'm the most awesome woman in the world b/c I am so geeky like that, and I think his geekiness makes him one of the most awesome men I've ever met!

So far, not seeing signs of life of that theory in my age group. Hope the young'uns have better luck :)

As a female geek, I definitely feel geeks got game. Face it, guy or girl, geeks make for fun interesting dates.

We live in a world of entertainment and fast information. People who can hold passionate stimulating conversations on a variety of topics are just... Hot.

Geeks are in! Definitely.

Although I don't argue with the blogger's analysis that geeks are in because we no longer need brawn. I think geeks are in because we no longer live in a primordially resource-based or industrial economy. We now live in a knowledge creative economy. So, people who can display knowledge and creativity are, therefore, kind of displaying power.

Wow is your boyfriend a lucky guy!

Geez, if only I could find a girl like that.

My BF reached the same conclusion. ;) I always thought I was normal, but he seems to think I'm some freak anomaly in woman land.

From the article---While girls appreciate eye candy as much as men do, the smart ones want to be entertained. Nothing is as off putting as a man who can’t hold his own at the Scrabble table.

Lol My BF and I play scrabble back and forth on the iPhone. It drives him nuts that I kick his ass every time muahahahaha (so far.....I'm well on my way to losing this most recent game.)

Yes, if a man can't entertain my brain....not interested. I can fend for myself!

I know there have to be lots of other geeky girls out there just like me!

Oops, very tired, working too hard here in geek world. What I meant to say is that I don't agree with the blogger's analysis that geeks are in because we no longer need brawn.

I'm in my 30s too. So are you a geek or are you not a geek?

I follow a ton of geeks on Twitter, let me tell you, I "fall in love" almost daily.

:D The things I learn are priceless. It's nothing new that brains = hot

I have every star trek episode except DS9 on DVD

A Treker is not necessarily a geek. :)

Geeks are those who were blowing up the school pool and launching rockets with movie cameras while their male friends were banging girls and dropping acid.

Geek points right there. And you definitely have the self-deprecating-humility thing going.

What about your passions? Do you work in a field that you're passionate about?

My husband is a geek, high up in the tech industry, used to make his own computers and robots for fun and plays Dungeons and Dragons or WoW with his buddies once a week, but he was definitely not the stereotypical virgin-til-25 kinda guy, he's well-rounded, confident, socially apt. I'm a literature and sci fi geek myself. I was an editor and a science/technical writer before I took time off to stay home with our infant son. He loves it that I am more heavily into sci fi than he is and always recommend good sci fi books to him or drag him to see the movies all his friends gfs don't want to see, and we're currently writing a computer game together in our spare time (one of a few different writing projects I'm trying to work on in all my copious time when the baby is napping ). We're currently working our way through the entire Red Dwarf series with my stepdaughter who just became old enough to get most of it, and he bought me the newly released complete DVD set of Farscape for my birthday, I loved it just as much as the black pearls he got me for Christmas. We also research and then start all kinds of projects together and take classes together, we are currently figuring out how to make our own wine and hard cider, next we want to take either a sign language or a ballroom dancing class together. Geeks are fun and geek chic is hot in our locale :bunny: You're not alone.

I watched the originals, TNG and Voyager. I only own 3 complete series on DVD: Farscape, Red Dwarf, and Firefly (including Serenity, of course). Working on acquiring the entire Muppets collection now :lmao:. For the kids!...sort of.

Awesome!!! Me and my BF are writing a round robin type short story. Mystery/Sci Fi. :) We stop every 500 words no matter where that ends the story, mid sentence, etc.

It's so much fun!

Those are fun. You should consider starting a round-robin story thread, though you would probably have to cut it down to 25 words or so per round...

All I know is I've been destroying all competition with my excellence :p

No, I am a geek and still will be a geek, but I never show it unless i'm with my friends... and of course if the girl I am with is geeky, that's good!

I am a geek.

I play WOW at least once a week.

I might start playing D&D again with friends.

I've started playing with DIY LCD projectors.

I work in the computer feild.

I watch sci-fi & revision3.com alot.

I don't tell women a lot of the above because most of them just don't know what i'm talking about & assume i'm a geek & trying to explain it just makes things worse. LOL!

But,

I'm renovating my house & know how to use power tools, do trim, tile, ect.

These are the things I talk about.

I'm a nerd, not a geek--according to a quiz on OKCupid there is a difference between nerds, geeks and dorks, haha. I've never watched Star Wars or Star Trek and don't ever want to; I basically don't like anything that could be categorized as sci-fi or fantasy. I wouldn't be able to be with a guy who was super-into any of that stuff.

Ha! I got dork, as I'm so socially awkward. My boyfriend is a nerd but I love video games and Star Trek, and we both work with computers.

Every guy I've liked was/is a geek. :) I love them. Apologies ahead for the generalization, but I find that geeks usually tend to be more intelligent and less playerish than the average guy.

P.S. I'm quite curious how WoW once a week is construed as geekish! Hell, I'd never pay their monthly fee to only play once a week! ;)

Ha! Awesome. I thought my gf and I were the only ones who did this. We are kind of addicted now and she gets PISSED when I beat her constantly. I'm like a natural at it. Let me know your screen name if you're up for a friendly game sometime!
