Well, I'm 23 years old and living in NYC (JUST moved here), 6 foot 3 inches tall -- and I figure, with this new life and everything, why not optimize my appearance? I want to buy new clothes, redo my hair -- everything. I figure hair is a good place to start (as was commented on in another thread).

Some pics I snapped today (bear in mind, I hate taking pics of myself and I dislike my smile, lol):

An older pic of me with slightly longer hair:

Alright, so I need opinions. Pure, brutal, honest opinions. I don't care how harsh they are. I want to make some changes, and so I expect some constructive criticism here (although I wouldn't mind compliments either if applicable XD ). More seriously, though:

1. What is your opinion with respect to looks/face alone?

2. Do you think my current hairstyle is a turnoff, nondescript, or good? What would you recommend?

3. Any other comments? Maybe clothing style? (I generally wear polos)

Thanks!

EDIT: Also special thanks to Pizzaman for the inspiration for this thread. XD

I usually prefer longer hair, but in your case : good bone structure, and hair too curly for styling, I would say go shorter !

Need to just keep it a bit more "neat"...cut the fringes a bit, esp.the front.

Anyway, whatever you do don't listen to skydiveaddict! :p

Next time, let it grow out and go for a mullet. lol

you see what I mean? ....lol..:D

In 23 y.o. guy I prefer shaved down low, otherwise, you look optimal.

The hair in the 2nd link looks good and very stylish.

Hey Vertex, glad you took my criticism in your other thread constructively. Honestly nothing is outlandishly wrong with your hair, it's just a personal taste of mine that for the hair texture like yours, you generally want it a bit neater. Though I did like those pics posted by threebyfate. If you want to maintain length, those are the styles to go for. Just get the curls off your face. The mini bangs don't foster the appearance of a "man's man" to me.

It sucks living in NYC in that respect- appearance is everything and keeping well groomed is so important in attracting the opposite sex.

I am just not sure what to actually do with my hair -- if I take my hair off the forehead, I can't get it to stay anywhere else without it looking funny. :p Whenever I cut it too short, I feel like I sacrifice any ability to style it. Just not sure how to properly redo everything, hm. I definitely want a more masculine look.

you look great, you should get lots of chicks as is

I like the longer look on you in general, but it needs to be styled/cleaned up, and you need to learn how to use product. The first link TBF posted would be perfect.

The pros will no exactly what to do. Go to a real salon (like the John Frieda, or Sally Hershberger) and invest in a good first haircut, that can be upkept by a much cheaper barber.

Really! This is promising feedback. XD

My only problem I'm having is that if I try to put it up *too* hard, I get a bit of a "warble" because of my widow's peak (I don't have a straight/uniformly curved hairline like the guys in your pics).

Meh, don't worry about that. Your hair texture and style isn't met to be perfectly even.

YES!!! You used some product, didn't you?! :D:bunny:

I used a bit of Crew [Light Hold] lotion or whatever it's called.

Don't worry about evenness. Widow's peaks look awesome!

Just try to make sure that the hair is not too crunchy from the gel.

Now go get em'. ;)

I actually used to have this problem a long time ago -- I also found that it instantly repels women when they go to touch your hair only to feel a tangle of drybrush. :p I try to use no more than a dime-size of the light hold stuff.

I think we all used to have that problem. I like products for hair that make it soft & silky.
