Colt2187 Posted January 6, 2004 Posted January 6, 2004 I do sit ups on an inclined bench (I've always heard the term "roman chair" for an inclined bench) and was wondering if you can do sit ups every day or every other day. I've heard two theories, one being that you should treat your abdominal muscles like every other muscle and rest it. The second theory is that the abdominal muscles are some of the hardest muscles to tear so it should be worked everyday.
greenapple Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 I've heard that you can work the stomach muscles everyday. Crunches, Sit-ups etc. I've heard that the stomach muscles are like the forearm muscles in that, since they are dense muscle fibers, it's okay to work them everyday, just not over do it. Not sure If i'm right though, that's just what i've heard.
Errol Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 I exercise every day, including sit-ups. Doc told me it would be good for me to exercise every day. I guess it depends on how long each day, and like they said -- don't over-do.
Author Colt2187 Posted January 7, 2004 Author Posted January 7, 2004 How will I know if I'm over-doing it? Whenevr I do situps, I don't feel a burn while doing them but I know that I reached my max b/c I can't do anymore. I don't feel the soreness until 2 days after I do the situps.
Rob Posted January 8, 2004 Posted January 8, 2004 I use the abs as part of my excercise routine every day. However, you shouldn't do situps every day. Mix it up with other ab excercises, but do work them every day. I look at the abs and that whole region as being the core muscle group in the body. Your overall body appearance, in my opinion, is dependent upon the abs, which should be worked every day.
