I get so hungry at night sometimes that I have to eat before bedtime. Sometimes I go for a protein shake or half a can of tuna with some veggies. They're neither calorie dense nor carb dense. I stay away from the starch and bread and only have them during the day.

With the amount of exercise I've been doing ( 6 days a week of hard exercise, 1 day of rest) I would think eating at night isn't such a bad thing?

I make sure that I at least consume some protein 2 hours before bed.

Anybody has any opinions on late night eating?

Most "guidance" saying that you shoud avoid eating at night is generally a crock of sh*t in my experience and opinion. You aren't sedentary long enough and digestion isn't fast enough for it to make a difference. I generally eat dinner around 10 or 11 PM every night. It's what you eat that matters...not necessarily when you eat...and your choice of snacks is certainly good, so you really have nothing to worry about in eating those things prior to bed.

Nice to know. I know a few bodybuilders who told me the same thing that if you're hungry, just eat. But make sure that there's more protein and carbs, especially after a good workout. I was just a little worried that my body would turn the food into stored fat if I went to bed right afterwards.

Every REAL expert on nutrition out there says it DOES NOT MATTER if you eat at night. It's a matter of calories in, calories out. So long as you're not eating ALL your calories at night (as in starvation mode for most of the day [i.e., no breakfast, itty bitty lunch]), you'll be fine.

Thanks S_G. I always make sure to get most of my carbs in the morning and mid afternoon, but stick with good protein for nightly meals. It's definitely easier to burn carbs during the day than night.
