Short recap, (was with my ex for 4 years, she left me about 6 months ago. in those six months there was zero contact. outa the blue she contacted me wanting to be friends.) So it started off ok just plain freind talk. then it turned into a 50/50 sided conversation of either her going on and on about her new boyfriend, or telling me thing like she misses me, or she has to see me tonight only to blow me off, or "i will always love you and be here for you", tellin me about jus gettin out of the shower and lotioning herself up (somthin i always like seein lol) just min games bs i guess. i was ok with the friend stuff but the things she says i suppose give a person like me false hope. So last night i told her that she had to either be a real friend or just stop all together. I guess im posting to vent and to try to advise ppl that if your ex ur still in love with contacts you but want the whole stay "friends" thing RUN! RUN! RUN! cause in the end you we be right back to square one. 6 months of healing gone, and pain like the break up was yesterday... DONT MAKE MY MISTAKE

Don't quite agree. Did pretty much the same - started to get my head around being separated from the ex, then a few months later she comes over and asks how i'd feel about starting again.

 

We met up a few times but stupidly, stupidly, stupidly just got drunk each time to lighten the atmosphere and had sex. After about three weeks she's back to wanting to call it off again.

 

I also felt i'd gone back to square one, but actually, I haven't. Square one was a horrible, lost place to be, and it lasted a long time. After the second episode I also felt i'd gone back to the start again, but only for a short time. I've quickly come back to where I was before she asked me to consider a reconciliation again, and have even moved on beyond that.

 

Give it a bit of time. You'll find that something did move on in your head within those five months of separation.
