hellp12234 Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Hi, Okay, I think I might be a bit overanalytical here, but here is a hypothetical situation: If a girl emails a guy she knows (as an acquaintance) for advice about something school or work related, what does his response time mean? Is it a good sign if he responds within minutes, or does it mean nothing? Thank You :-)
TaraMaiden Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 It means he is sitting at his computer, sees the question, and answers it immediately.... And starts off with "As I'm at my PC/Laptop right now, I can help you straight away... here's how it goes....." It's really no more complicated than that.

Author hellp12234 Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Could it be a sign of disinterest if he emailed back within 5 minutes using a blackberry? Meaning he did not put a lot of thought into the email? TaraMaiden Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 If he e-mailed using a blackberry, it means he picks up his e-mail using a blackberry, and answered that way because he's away from a PC/Laptop. What the hell is the problem here? Why are you trying to hyper-analyse everything? What the hell is wrong with people that they think there is hidden meaning, subtle messaging and psychological mind-game tactics going on? Fer chrissakes, if a general, school/work-related question is asked - that's what a guy is responding to! The question! Because he can! You asked him a question. he's answered it. Isn't that what you wanted?
txsilkysmoothe Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 You can't read meaning into "response time." Sometimes people legitimately cannot respond quickly. It doesn't mean they don't want to respond quickly. Likewise, they may respond quickly because it's convenient to do so. The content of the response could be significant, however. Did he flirt with you?

Hey OP, if he actually answered your question while responding within 5 minutes, then its a good thing. If he didnt, then he responded to be polite.
Wallace1 Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Frankly, I don't see it is a good or bad thing. He answered your school/work related email promptly. I would do the same thing for anyone without a second thought as to "signals being given"
