Star Gazer Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Hey A - what do you wear when you run in the dark? I usually don't run a whole lot until late-March because it's too dark in the morning and after work... and would feel like an arse wearing anything reflective.

I really don't run outside after dark I have a treadmill so I just run on that. Though I might start doing it because fresh air feels so nice. When I was at the running store today I actually saw a lot of cute running stuff that had a reflective pattern or logo, it wasn't bad
Star Gazer Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 A - how are your shins feeling? I just read an article and came across these exercises post-run to avoid shinsplints: Walk one way on our heels with toes turned out Walk on our heels with toes turned in Walk on our toes with feet turned in, heels out Walk on our toes with feet turned out, like a ballerina Then, at the end, take off your shoes and socks and walk across the grass, pulling up grass with just your toes. Sounds weird, but it helps — and feels great after a workout.

tman666 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned foam rolling. Have you ever used a foam roller? You can get one for around 15 bucks, and if you use it every day or so, you'll be doing your muscles and tendons a big favor. I'm not really one to comment on running frequency and practices, but you might want to back off a bit and do some serious foam roller work, especially on your IT bands and those weird little muscles on the front/side of your shins.
