People don't get together and say "hey I am going to send you a friend request on FB is that cool with you?" they just send out a request and wait for it to be accepted or not, then they send messages freely, as the person has accepted them onto the friends list.

 

No, she can't get you fired for sending a few messages outside work unless they are strange or derogatory.
