mortensorchid Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Want to blow his mind? Send HIM flowers for an occasion. Really. See what happens.
Crazy Magnet Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 OMG I assume he told you where the flowers came from too? He must have done! What a rubbish boyfriend! That is the worst V-Day story I ever heard I've gotten dead flowers for Vday too! I got the guy a garmin GPS and excitedly asked...."Where's my gift?!?" We had been together for two years. His face nearly slid off his skull. He had gotten me absolutely NOTHING. Later he walked in with some mostly dead and wilted Wal-Mart flowers. Ugh. Did I mention my Mom had died only two weeks before. Yeah....LOSER.
Disillusioned Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 You know, don't you, that a flower is a plant's pubes? When I realized that, it changed my whole outlook.
Stung Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 OMG I assume he told you where the flowers came from too? He must have done! What a rubbish boyfriend! That is the worst V-Day story I ever heard I know, I cherish the memory now because it makes a good story . God, he sucked. I don't really remember how I knew they were originally from his ex as this was a long time ago, I think I actually recognized them as it was a dried arrangement I had seen before in his garage, in the same vase. But at some point he must have told me they came from her . I do remember telling him I would have preferred that he give me nothing at all because dead flowers from his ex was totally insulting.

DiscoChick Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I never received flowers. I was glad. I wouldn't have known what to do with them. I even tell guys that I prefer the plastic/paper ones. lol They last longer...

But damn it would have been nice to have some sort of gesture that I was thought of and they wanted to do something sweet. You know, once. Edited February 12, 2010 by Citizen Erased
OnlyJake Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 My immediate assumption would be that Boyfriend #1 was the better boyfriend, simply because he was more thoughtful and well mannered. Boyfriend #2 sounds like a bit of an inconsiderate jerk. Even worse is the fact that Boyfriend #1 was with you at a younger age yet he still treated you better, while Boyfriend #2 was with you at an age by which he really should have learned how to treat women properly and be able to afford flowers, and yet he still acted like a jerk. Boyfriend #1 had (has) Borderline Personality Disorder, was emotionally abusive, etc. Boyfriend #2 had a lot of good qualities, though lately I've been doing a lot of analysis and self-reflection and am beginning to think that perhaps the reason I went for someone like him was a result of having dated Boyfriend #1 I've dated these men too OP!
sunshinegirl Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 My BF of 3+ months has gotten me flowers once so far - upon my return from a long overseas trip last week... daisies b/c his nickname for me is Daisy. He's less of a flowers guy and more of a card-giving guy: he always manages to sneak a card into my luggage when I'm going away on a trip, so when I arrive at my hotel and open my bag, voila. It's super sweet.
flc Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 (edited) My GF (1.5yrs) loves flowers so I get her flowers every couple of weeks. This does not have to be expensive. I either go to a guy that imports direct and sells out of a small warehouse and I get two dozen roses for $11 all different colors or if I am grocery shopping I may pick up a small bouquet from the store for $10. Going to a florist is too expensive unless you need a fancy arraignment. We both believe in little gestures that show our love, so if we are walking in mall she may run in a shop and buy me some chocolate covered strawberries or find a nice wine that I might like.
