bananaboat11 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Late one evening I went into a starbucks w/ my best friend and the barista (with a big smile) after taking my order started a little conversation with me.. told me she had a class right after me and that she's seen me.. we talked about her graduating with an english degree yadayada.. she had no idea what to do with an english degree so is going for a second bachelor's... but I had to go, so I wished her good night and I'd probably see her around. I haven't seen her before/after class.. whatever.. but I saw her again the other night and when she saw me she started smiling... i don't know if she was blushing or something but her face turned red.. (so I thought).. didn't act on it, but asked her how class was going etc, etc... said goodnight and that was it. a) don't really know how to approach this situation as I've never asked out a person waiting on me before LOL b) don't really know how to find out if she's single... OR even interested in me in the first place (I would assume she'd give me 'clues'??? c) it's only been 4 months since a BAD, BAD, BAD breakup... is it too soon to start dating casually? (all signs point to probably...) ideas? TYIA.
USMCHokie Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Stop being a pansy and ask her out already.
Kelly5 Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 It sounds like she is into you so I think you should go back into Starbucks until you see her again and ask her if she would like to have a cup of coffee (your treat) sometime. This is very sweet and will not be awkward at all considering she works at a coffee shop. The worst that can happen is she says "no" and then you just find a new Starbucks! Lord knows there's one on every corner. GOOD LUCK!

Not here in Amherst... heh. i was thinking of asking her if she'd like to go out on Sunday (which happens to be Vday.. and then go for a drink @ a nice bar w/ an upstairs pool table floor... (they serve food @ a nice place next door to - don't know if we should dutch it or if I should offer to pay)
Author bananaboat11 Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 yay snow days... i'm so bored. i should've gone into my office/lab... at least I can be productive. i don't feel like watching TV..
sunrae Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Just ask her out... The last guy who asked me out, asked if I was available, and he would like to ask me out. I said I was , but appologized because I was running out the door to a meeting and gave him my number. She's probably shy, thats why she blushed when she saw you. But I think she's interested since she started a converstaion with you first.... ASK HER OUT!!!!! I'll buy the flowers for the date )

That is a good idea for a date though...something low key, fun, and casual...

Author bananaboat11 Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 KC, Iwould think if I asked her out at her place of work.. it'd be more brash and unexpected... she'd want to say yes
Author bananaboat11 Posted February 10, 2010 Author Posted February 10, 2010 I should probably ask her her name.... heh. that might help. LOL thanks guys!
USMCHokie Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 KC, Iwould think if I asked her out at her place of work.. it'd be more brash and unexpected... she'd want to say yes That's true...and even if she's very interested in going out with you, she may feel uncomfortable being asked out while she's working...especially if there are other customers around...it might make her "that girl" that accepts dates from random customers...perception is reality, my friend...
USMCHokie Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I should probably ask her her name.... heh. that might help. LOL thanks guys! Or you could just look on her shirt or apron thing...

Ummm, I would be flattered not insulted, but thats just me.... Could always go in there and wait till the crowd clears a little, then ask her out... Maybe one day when I'm up in the DC area again, I'll try to ask USMCHokie, out for a cup of coffee...

USMCHokie Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Maybe one day when I'm up in the DC area again, I'll try to ask USMCHokie, out for a cup of coffee... Hooray! Aren't you in SC? I'll be there this weekend.
sunrae Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Hooray! Aren't you in SC? I'll be there this weekend. Oh Really??? Yes, I am in SC.. I live close to Charlotte, my town is right on the NC/C line... What part of SC are you going to be in? My brother lives in Hanover MD, but works in DC... I love to go up there and visit him.
Silver_star Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 You should go for it! She seems like she is interested. So why not just ask her for coffee (make a joke out of it, like "we can go for coffee, but u wont have to make it", or u could go for a drink that isnt coffee. LOL. i think it would be really cute. You can make it casual (ask if she wants to get a drink to talk about class or after school future plans) , that way it will take the pressure off both of you and you can see how you feel being around her more.
