laRubiaBonita Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 i am more spiritual, than the traditional definition of christian religious. i grew up lutheran, and attended a really great church! our pastor was amazing, and never holier than though- but just seemed glowing and so down to earth. he had the best thoughts- and always told stories and acted my life motto: "Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You" i did a lot in our church, acolyte, youth group, taught sunday school, confirmed...... a good 16 years of growing up. that to me, is what god is all about. such a sense of community and well wishes and support... then i moved. lent is one observation i like to "go back to God", if you will. this year, for lent(2-17)- my older sister and i are gong to go to church, at least on Ash Wednesday..... but i want to go more. i just need to recenter my spirituality- i need to get back to where my beliefs began.... i want to sing hymns and hear music and do traditions i know. my sister and i are going to quit smoking...... and i- FOR real- am going to quick drinking... at least on weeknights(i can't be rigid!). So anyone else about to make some changes?

My goal is that instead of giving something up, I am going to take something up to help change my life going forward. I am going to become less reactionary and to find more opportunities to help others. Good luck with your endeavors. I will keep you in my thoughts.
