Rulebreaker Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 What kinds of things do you like to watch/read right after a breakup? I find that I can't handle anything where love is the focus. I'm at the tail end of getting over a breakup right now and I find what works best is science fiction and Woody Allen movies. Music is different. I have a kickass girl playlist with angry and sad "it's over" music. Examples: Kelly Clarkson Gone, Christina Aguilera Fighter, Evanescence Missing, Nelly Furtado In God's Hands.
Lakeside_runner Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Um... when I'm dealing with a break-up and people in my Aikido club know it... nobody wants to practice with me - they're all scared!!! I try to be gentle but I can't... Music: something full of energy!!! Movies: Horrors, war movies, sci-fi.
Author Rulebreaker Posted February 8, 2010 Author Posted February 8, 2010 Any particular suggestions on movies? Am updating my Netflix queue...
Lakeside_runner Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 Alien 1-4. Alien vs. Predator 1-2. Predator 1-2. Um, Kill Bill both volumes.

Lakeside_runner Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 favorite breakup movies: good will hunting People! PLEASE! Stop watching that particular movie!!! That and 'Beautiful Mind'... It's full of crap and then when I say that being a mathematician is a job kind of like any other (well maybe the time is not regulated) - no gal believes me!

It's full of crap and then when I say that being a mathematician is a job kind of like any other (well maybe the time is not regulated) - no gal believes me! oh, it's cool. i'm a scientist and my ex-boyfriend is a theoretical physicist, so i have no problem distinguishing fact from fiction. in my opinion, good will hunting is just a good movie.

Yeah - but you're coming from a scientific background... In goodwill hunting there is a scene where this older math prof and Will are sitting and looking at a combinatorial diagram on the board. Will gets up and writes some combinatorial formula on the board - then they both start canceling terms... GEEZ!!! I nearly puke when I see it...

Lakeside_runner Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 ha, it's just a story and i don't think people are watching it for the math equations. i know i don't. Of course it's a story. But this skews peoples view on the whole subject. That's my point!

St. Nick Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 The best way to deal with a breakup is to get active: practice jujutsu, play guitar or piano, paint, draw, cycle, swim, dance, jog, etc. Get the blood flowing. Sitting around doesn't help.
Lakeside_runner Posted February 9, 2010 Posted February 9, 2010 practice jujutsu Maybe for a girl... as mentioned somewhere - immediately after a break-up nobody wants to practice Aikido with me. Everybody's scared... I can't help it...
