I'm finding after undergraduate... (for me)... usurped by my workload etc, etc... I rarely have time to be super social and go to these get togethers every so often to have a chance to meet someone new.

Aside from online dating... where have you met your current partner?

blind date?

school?

job?

bar? (I don't think I want to do this...)

I have been in two relationships so far:

1. My former student (sigh...)

2. Online (probably don't want to do this anymore)

Where I have met anyone significant:

Through friends

At a university party

Through friends

At work

A neighbour

Online. However he graduated from my sister's school, we are in the same field, and I happened to run into two of his close acquaintances before...

My husband was homeless for 12 years. He was a panhandler and asked me for change. We started talking and then we became friends and traveled together.

I am not kidding

wow, literally from rags to riches (relatively)!

I met my gf at university. She was in a class in which I was a T.A. (we didn't date until sometime after the class ended though)

At a sport event - we both competed over there.

Details - if I may ask? How did he approach you :) I am asking since this would be the best way to meet new people for me...

On LS. :) We have known each other for years on here but we got closer awhile back and things went from there.

Clearly I am missing out on some awesome gossip.

OP, I met my husband online so I guess we don't count...but historically I usually met significant others through friends and acquaintances at events like a gallery opening, a concert, a fundraiser etc., or through school (not just University but continuing education in arts, languages, reupping my certs, etc.). I met a few people in bars over the years sure but only made one meaningful relationship that way. I met someone on an international flight once, and have met a few people in bookstores and cafes. I met a hot male nurse in the ER when I was taking my sick diabetic friend in, proving that almost ANY situation can turn into a meat market  (she was okay and highly approving of the match).

:) I know the OP stated not online but I figured as LS isn't used for dating it was an exception. I will be meeting him (Pyro) very shortly and we'll see how things go from there. :)

My other relationships were met through school.

Don't you get invited to parties by your friends from schools?

Posted

I met the current BF online. But before that it was always through friends. Not that those seeemed to work out in the long run! lol

Posted

Mutual friends. Or, my friends' partners usually want to hook me up with one of their friends.

Online (I feel stupid doing it though, but Ive met some nice people)

School.

And once, at this party I threw at my old apartment.

I can see why people talk down on the bar scene and meeting people, but I've seriously met some awesome people while out.

Wow Pyro and CE sittin' in a tree...I didn't know. Good luck on the meet! Due to distance I actually didn't meet my husband until after several months of IM/email communication, I was struggling not to take it too seriously or get too invested, but I was way nervous when we first met (and so was he).

It's worked out well so far, though. :bunny:

Where did the OP go and why hasn't he answered us if he wants help?

Yahoo Personals. We were both reluctant to try it, but, we have been dating for 10 months now. Overall things have been pretty good for us. :)
