My supervisor (I am a student intern in college) wants to set me up on a blind date with someone she knows. I trust her judgement but I immediately thought "NO WAY...absolutely not." To me, the thought of a blind date is terrifying, and I can't image something being more awkward.

So do any of you have any successful blind date stories, or any tips/advice to share?

What's the big deal? I'm sure your supervisor won't set you up with a serial killer/rapist. One date isn't a commitment of sex or marriage. I say go with an open mind. If you end up liking the guy, great.

I feel like the only fear that might be playing out in your mind is the fear that if you don't like the guy that your supervisor will take it as a personal insult and there will be repercussions. If this is a legitimate fear, then politely decline. However, if you think that your supervisor would be receptive to "he was a great guy, but not really my type", then why not give it a shot!

Good luck
