shadowplay Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 (edited) I had two main crushes in high school. I recently google stalked both of them, and strangely they both turned out extremely successful. My main crush is now a major, major player at Google. My other crush (who reminds me of my current bf) is the drummer in a very successful band that has been played on Gossip Girl, MTV and has a major record deal. WTF. At the time I just thought they were both cute, interesting and smart. Did I have an incompetent cupid sent to me who was given success darts instead of love darts? I guess I know how to pick 'em. burning 4 revenge Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Admit it you were disappointed You were hoping for a little schadenfreude or whatever its called, weren't you? You wanted to see one of them injured in Iraq and the other one stricken with gender dysphoria disorder
Citizen Erased Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Huh. My main HS crush lives at home and smokes weed all day. But I found him so dreamy.
Author shadowplay Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 Admit it you were disappointed You were hoping for a little schadenfreude or whatever its called, weren't you? You wanted to see one of them injured in Iraq and the other one stricken with gender dysphoria disorder Nah. Maybe for the Google guy. He was extremely smart but a bit of an arse. The other guy was sweet. I just never had the guts to talk to him. I observed him from a distance and something caught my eye but I can't figure out what.
Joe Normal Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Perhaps there's a life lesson there - if you want something, you have to go for it. Sitting back will result in opportunities passing you by, so "carpe diem".
counterman Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 That's wonderful how they turned out to be successful. Back then, were their telling signs that they were going to end up the way they are? I agree with Joe Normal. Then again, they were only crushes.
Trialbyfire Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 You're like I am and like men who are intelligent and have that intense and driven side to them. With this in mind, it's not surprising that both of your crushes would succeed in careers that they were probably intense and driven about. Btw, maybe you should consider a new career. Start your own dating service for women, called "Men with Future Potential"!
