OP, I'm wondering if this is all putting you off the German girl you wanted to approach? You might end up in -20 degree temp winters, bad customer service, rude people, an extremely hard language to learn, and lots of porn in dvd shops and wishing you'd never left your homeland for luurve in the first palce. What if you managed to talk to this girl? You too might end up moving here...it's not all that bad. Love hate relationship shall we say.

I think you're confused.

I live and currently am in the United States. These girls are German and Austrian girls who're studying abroad IN THE US. I'm not in Germany.

And I don't understand what the big concern is. These girls are only here for 1 semester, only a little over 4 months.

How could something go so serious and wrong in such a short time?

When you feel bold enough, do as the others have said, and sit near them. It can't hurt to say hi just casually. And you can do it in English, chances are if they were able to be accepted to study in the US, they will have needed to learn the English language. You never know. Worst case they might ignore you, or giggle, but no harm done.

Good luck.

I was just kidding! On the off-chance you did manage to break into the group and fall in love with a German girl so deeply that you gave up everything in the States to follow her back to Germany/Austria :)

dress up like a german girl and infiltrate

Shouldn't be hard. I wear a lot of form-fitting clothes, and a lot of dress wear. I've been asked if I'm European simply for the way I dress more than once.

ahhh Deutschland...lived there for a couple years...I agree with the lack of customer service, the very accessible sex shops (not that I ever went in ;)); the stares I was subjected to on the strassenbahn, oh and the pet dogs in the restaurant. I love southern Europe, though.

First word I learned in German: Krankenhaus...that was not a good stay !

To the OP, do these girls ever go to the bars? If so, offer them BEER! and cigarettes....!

If they do, it's not around here. A lot of them look like they're under 21.
