Can I get some female advice here - would a dishwasher be an acceptable present?

Damn I'd love that.

From a male perspective, nothing says I love you like a brand new dishwasher...

ahmm...throw in a vacuum cleaner-that should complete it!

I hope I date a romantic guy some day. No bf of mine has ever blown me away on Vday. My last bf got me lingerie that didn't fit.

I'm getting my BF a 7-piece Wusthof knife set - we've both talked about wanting to do more cooking, and he's specifically mentioned needing better knives. It's a bit on the pricey side, but I see it as an investment in "us" - in other words, those knives are also going to be mine one day, as I'm pretty sure this is the man I'm going to marry. :p

Oh - and we met 7 months ago and have been dating for 3+ months.

Wusthof are top of the line. However I have used both wusthof and Henkels and I gotta say I'm a fan of the henkels. They're very well balanced and the blades are very easy to maintain sharp. It's a personal choice though.

omg...I think this is the first time(and hopefully the last) in a lot of years that I am not going to give or receive a Valentine's Day gift ....not sure how I would feel about this. I guess, I will know when the day comes...weird...

I need a hug....:(..mom? dad?

We have been dating over 5 months. We're going for a couple of days to Atlantic City (her idea). I really have no clue what to give her. She loves xbox 360 games but already has all the ones she wants, she does want an ezio (Assassin's Creed II) sweatshirt so maybe that, and a card, and some flowers. She constantly says it's stupid that people choose to show love one day of the year. I still know that doesn't mean "don't get me anything" so I'll have to come up with something. I refuse to give her flowers though. I rather get them for her any other day of the year (and I have)

I can see the commercials now....

"He went to Best Buy...?"

"GASP!!! He went to Best Buy!!!"

P.S. For those who don't get it...youtube a Jared's commercial...

I'm kickin' it old school - underwear + a trip to a cute bistro + roses .

I don't know whether to feel inferior or annoyed by looking at all the elaborate Vday ideas :rolleyes:::rolleyes:.

My GF is getting:

a beautiful card

2 dozen red roses

a box of godiva truffles

3 lace thong panties from Victorias secret; white, black, hot pink

and I will bring a bottle of Champaign and a nice Cerviche Pescado

I told my boyfriend not to buy me anything because he's broke at present. He seemed kind of surprised; apparently girls are supposed to want lots of materialistic stuff :p

I expect he'll probably get me a card, and I'm making dinner for him at home (I'm not rich either  )

To be honest though, I find a lot of Valentines Day stuff to be ridiculous overpriced rubbish. Restaurants are packed and the menu is a sub-standard set meal at an extortionate price, flowers and chocolates have their prices raised so they cost the earth, card shops charge a fortune for what is, essentially, a piece of paper... I don't buy into it all. I'd rather have dinner at home, and if we had the money I'd prefer a thoughtful and heartfelt little gift rather than all the schmaltz available in the stores.

What are you getting for your girlfriend or boyfriend? And how long have you been together?

I've been dating my boyfriend for a little over 3 months. He's always saying he wants us to cook/learn to cook together, so I was thinking about getting him a couples cookbook, plus some boxers, chocolate covered strawberries, and a cd. Does that sound ok?

Well Im getting her this scarf she wanted in a box filled with Chocolate...why so simple and cheap ? how long have we been together ?? well simply because this is our first date :)

I've been dating my boyfriend for about 2 1/2 months...I'm getting him a cologne sample set, a t-shirt that references an inside joke, and a handmade card. I'm debating on giving him the card. I don't want to do too much too soon.

My BF loves train rides and drama type stuff, so I found a Mystery Murder train ride thing on Saturday that will take all day. We stop over in a cute little town, so I'll take him out to lunch. I got him a iPhone cover, and I had thought about giving him a framed photo of us for the office, but I probably won't get around to that one.

He has a thing for garter's and thigh highs, so I'll probably throw something like that in too.

He got me tickets to a musical that is in town that weekend and surprise reservations on Sunday night. I trust it will be quaint, sweet, and romantic. :)
