prettybaby Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 What are you getting for your girlfriend or boyfriend? And how long have you been together? My bf and I have officially been together for a year (Valentine's day was our first kiss), so we'll also be celebrating our first anniversary. I got custom made gold pendants (shape = military dog tag). They both have "My Love" engraved on the front, and his has my first name on the back, and mine has his first name on the back. He already wears a little gold chain under his shirt daily, so I know he'll wear it. I'm excited to give it
Trialbyfire Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 'Grats on your first anniversary. Sounds like a lovely gift that he will appreciate. What are you getting for your girlfriend or boyfriend? H. is getting a golfing trip, for him and his best buddy. I racked my brains out trying to figure out what to give this man. Men over 30 are impossible to gift, especially someone like H., who barely wears any jewelry beyond his wedding ring and a watch. He does love quality watches but he got one last year, for an engagement gift. And how long have you been together? Depends. Our dating anniversary is NYE but Valentine's Day, is the day he proposed last year, so it's a pretty special day. Our wedding anniversary is on Hallowe'en...haha...don't ask...
shadowplay Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 my bf is booking a weekend for us in an upscale NY hotel. I have no clue what to get for him, given my limited budget. I suck at gifts. :/

I suck at gifts. :/ That sounds lovely ? What about something NYC-ish to do while there ? A show, a band thats playing, a certain restuarant, something that would mean something to him ?
sunshinegirl Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I'm getting my BF a 7-piece Wusthof knife set - we've both talked about wanting to do more cooking, and he's specifically mentioned needing better knives. It's a bit on the pricey side, but I see it as an investment in "us" - in other words, those knives are also going to be mine one day, as I'm pretty sure this is the man I'm going to marry. Oh - and we met 7 months ago and have been dating for 3+ months.
laRubiaBonita Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 i am getting H much needed mesh water/ land running shoes. his others are losing the bottom tread and he looks like a lame flamingo when he wears them
O'Malley Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I'm getting my boyfriend a bunch of vinyls and and some books that have come out recently. I always have to put a lot of investigation into surprises for him because he's a music junkie (and a musician as well) and manages to get things before I can buy them. We'll have been together 15 years this March, so we know each others' tastes rather well. I still can't figure out what he's getting me, though.

shadowplay Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 If all else fails, I'm getting him two Portishead albums on vinyl.
LucreziaBorgia Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 What are you getting for your girlfriend or boyfriend? And how long have you been together? I'm got him a rare 78-rpm record for his collection that he mentioned that he wanted in passing a few weeks ago. He likely forgot the conversation and I can't wait to see his face when he opens it! We have been together officially since November 19th, but sort of hooked up a little over ten years ago and have been circling each other on and off ever since then.
rina_r Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 We ve been together for 4.5 mo. I am getting him a book "Why we love" by Helen Fisher.
greatgirlfriend Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 The guy I'm seeing I haven't been seeing long so nothing. He'll probably get me nothing either and being we've only been seeing each other less than a month too early. Now if we are together next year (if he gets over his issues) then I'll get him a present and expect something in return.
EnglishMuffin Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 3 Months. I am getting him a PJ (he needs a new one), a candle of his favourite scent, a pair of colourful boxer (for fun), and a handmade Valentine's Day card.
USMCHokie Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 No significant other = no Valentine's Day gift.
Stitch Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'm been with my boyfriend for just over a year and a half. He will be receiving an Xbox hard drive and a handmade cuddly toy dinosaur for Valentine's day. He keeps teasing me, saying mines on the way.. but he won't let me know what it is.
SoulSearch_CO Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I have no freaking clue. I'm struggling with this one. We've been dating for 6 months, but have not adopted the BF/GF title. But I think my biggest struggle with V-day is that it was my wedding anniversary of my failed marriage. I'm trying to figure out if I even want to ever acknowledge the day again.
Fay Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I'd been with him for five months, and what I'm giving him is a poem about how badly he hurt me by dumping me for no good reason after he claimed to love me with all his heart, and how it'll come back to bite him in the @$$ once he realizes that there will never be another like me. For the last ten years all men have been bastards to me. There must be something wrong with me. I must have lost something magical about me which I had in my teenage years. If only I could figure out what it is, I'd sell my soul to get it back. "This world is a vale of tears. There's nothing in it which doesn't bother me." -Kiyoha, Sakuran
skydiveaddict Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 (edited) No significant other = no Valentine's Day gift. Same here counselor. Better NOT to have a girlfriend when getting deployed soon anyway Edited February 3, 2010 by skydiveaddict

Joe Normal Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Can I get some female advice here - would a dishwasher be an acceptable present?
Joe Normal Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 my bf is booking a weekend for us in an upscale NY hotel. I have no clue what to get for him, given my limited budget. I suck at gifts. :/ What about a day of carnal indulgence? I'm pretty sure that would make him happy.
USMCHokie Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 Can I get some female advice here - would a dishwasher be an acceptable present? From a male perspective, nothing says I love you like a brand new dishwasher...
